I didn't understand. Looking back at Tsukasa, it wasn't for the same reason other kids didn't know. I was in denial. Now i understand. More than anyone should have to. I recognize that stare she had. That is the only facial expression i dont have to fake. For the same reason. And just like her, i cant get out. 29 year old me: Love and grief is an obsession, an addiction. Harold (?)'s attempt to save his dead wife's essence through the AI Morgana catalyzed the series. Both Harold and Morgana were sucked into the computer void - both metaphorically and physically- essentially Harold's obession became Morgana which then became crazily obessed with her programmed goal. Meanwhile, the main characters are obssessed with finding the key of the twilight and saving the kid. All them reveal their true selves in the game which is why they are naked in the promo. The series ends with the birth of the ultimate AI who absorbed all their thoughts.

This song is such a banger I don't care if people say the story wasnt that good or anything, the sheer vibe and aesthetic made in this show is top notch. Its simple and knows what it wants to be and has inspire shows that are huge now, such a SAO, log horizon etc. it was ahead of its time imo it knew what it wanted to be and still holds up for me, nostalgia aside.
@KirbyGotenksabsorbed2 жыл бұрын
While the vibe and aesthetic are indeed incredible, the story was also really good. It's just that a somewhat decent attention span is required to grasp it because it's actually a psychological mystery dressed up as a virtual fantasy, hence why people who watched this as a child often didn't understand it but then love it when they rewatch it later when they've grown up a bit more.
@Cloudsouth2 жыл бұрын
I loved everything about it and the games. I didn't go beyond GU but that era I loved. I even almost never saw SAO until much later. Could tell Dot//Hack was from a whole other time when the internet was just a different thing.

I had an obsession over this anime 3 years ago! Watched some episodes as a kid but never really cared about it. I started to get into mmorpg's (maplestory) when I was in high school and after high school I saw Final Fantasy 14 and it brought me back to this anime I watched all the episodes listened to all songs and even did background searches over the main characters mainly Haseo. Haseo because he was so interesting since he was in .hack//Sign and .hack//Roots and I wondered why he was so clueless and emotional in Roots when he was a cocky piece of shit in Sign but it made sense because he absorbed Skyth which caused him to go into a coma. The story is complex and has a hell of a lot of plotholes but that's what I love because it made me do research I wouldn't consider this anime a casual anime like Dragon Ball Z or any other shonen anime. It's dark and the story's complexity is mind boggling.

The story that unfolds is the un-log player and their friends trying to get them to get out of the game.
