I didn't understand. Looking back at Tsukasa, it wasn't for the same reason other kids didn't know. I was in denial. Now i understand. More than anyone should have to. I recognize that stare she had. That is the only facial expression i dont have to fake. For the same reason. And just like her, i cant get out. I thought it was okay and it wasn't, and i thought they were protecting me, when they were actually slowly erasing what little of me was a person to replace with their own cheap copy with memories of doing things i never actually did

Love the symbolism in this show and it's emphasis on escapism. All the characters are being stripped from their avatars to symbolise their reality selves meshing with the game while tsukasa's reality is within the game itself, thus his skin peeling away.

29 year old me: Love and grief is an obsession, an addiction. Harold (?)'s attempt to save his dead wife's essence through the AI Morgana catalyzed the series. Both Harold and Morgana were sucked into the computer void - both metaphorically and physically- essentially Harold's obession became Morgana which then became crazily obessed with her programmed goal. Meanwhile, the main characters are obssessed with finding the key of the twilight and saving the kid. All them reveal their true selves in the game which is why they are naked in the promo. The series ends with the birth of the ultimate AI who absorbed all their thoughts.

This song is such a banger I don't care if people say the story wasnt that good or anything, the sheer vibe and aesthetic made in this show is top notch. Its simple and knows what it wants to be and has inspire shows that are huge now, such a SAO, log horizon etc. it was ahead of its time imo it knew what it wanted to be and still holds up for me, nostalgia aside.
@KirbyGotenksabsorbed
@KirbyGotenksabsorbed 2 жыл бұрын
While the vibe and aesthetic are indeed incredible, the story was also really good. It's just that a somewhat decent attention span is required to grasp it because it's actually a psychological mystery dressed up as a virtual fantasy, hence why people who watched this as a child often didn't understand it but then love it when they rewatch it later when they've grown up a bit more.
@Cloudsouth

I loved everything about it and the games. I didn't go beyond GU but that era I loved. I even almost never saw SAO until much later. I felt like I was cheating on Dot//Hack: The show has that thing about it that is so damn deep it hits hard. But when I saw SAO I was glad that it was so different. I ended up loving both. Could tell Dot//Hack was from a whole other time when the internet was just a different thing.

I had an obsession over this anime 3 years ago! Watched some episodes as a kid but never really cared about it. I started to get into mmorpg's (maplestory) when I was in high school and after high school I saw Final Fantasy 14 and it brought me back to this anime I watched all the episodes listened to all songs and even did background searches over the main characters mainly Haseo. Haseo because he was so interesting since he was in .hack//Sign and .hack//Roots and I wondered why he was so clueless and emotional in Roots when he was a cocky piece of shit in Sign but it made sense because he absorbed Skyth which caused him to go into a coma. The story is complex and has a hell of a lot of plotholes but that's what I love because it made me do research I wouldn't consider this anime a casual anime like Dragon Ball Z or any other shonen anime. It's dark and the story's complexity is mind boggling.

The story that unfolds is the un-log player and their friends trying to get them to get out of the game.

This song was and is still so hype. But man the anime was so confusing. But hey, it introduced me to the games and man were they fun.

This show was good for whoever was already a fan of .Hack. For other people...not so much. Had they made a good, faithful adaptation of the .Hack games, nobody would be talking about SAO.

I bought .hack//infection because of this anime. "The Matrix" had a lot to do with my love for this show. Ironically, I think this is better than the Ghost in the Shell anime. SAO was just there because .hack was gone.

M.Sidney Atkins A lot of main characters get handed a shitty deck no matter the series. What makes them good characters depends on what they do with it.

I haven't seen this since I was 8 years old. It would always come on right after Cartoon Cartoon fridays an it blew my mind that they were showing partially nude characters. When the bit where the characters are falling and their clothes come off, I started singing along. It's amazing how memory works

I was frustrated when I didn't know where to start watching. I wasted my earnings on disks, and time watching in confusion. The main drive or perhaps reason was because of the opening. You bet I was headbanging and captivated by the opening. Finally with the internet I can grab it for the taking. Jokes on you Block Buster! Muahahhahaha I owe myself all these years to finish it. This time from the beginning to the end. Long live the laughs!
