Yes. The story is that they contacted someone through LinkedIn, talked that person into giving them some form of access by claiming they were a team member/co-worker and needed a log in or something like that. I saw another article that the hackers claim it took them less than 10 minutes to gain access.

Social Engineered their way in, sweet talking to a dumb support staff over the phone to probably reset some employee's login/password. I guess 2-factor authentication was too advanced or expensive to implement. These low paying, low status jobs probably don't require much beyond valid permission to work in this country, tax ID, maybe high school diploma or equivalent, flexibility to be scheduled for weekends, holidays, nights, so no life outside work would be preferred.
