4:47 - the tones he recorded were DTMF or dual tone multi frequency or the sound dual harmonics that you hear when you press the keypad on a pay phone. The idea is you put the quarters in, record the tones, hang up, get your money back then use the recording to make free phone calls.

4:21 thats a touch tone dialler!!! I havent seen one of those in over 25 years - you used to be able to put it up to the receiver of a pay phone and dial in a "certain code" and it would give you free calls on a payphone anywhere in the world for like 5 - 10 min. After 2001 the payphone company here in Australia (theres only 1 haha) got wise to it and you couldnt do it anymore 😂😂😂
