Please thank your client for allowing you to share this beautiful horse’s progress with us. He is a looker! It’s exciting to see them really from a strong partnership. Also you give some very good tips for all of us amateur riders.

This was sooo interesting and useful, I’ve had a tough few months with my horse after he started showing these signs during schooling. I had teeth, back, saddle etc all checked with no avail before sending him to the vets for a poor performance work up, and results showed he had glandular ulcers. After treating these and then scoping clear he is still very much the same, if not worse than before. Even though vets have recommended we start working him again he is so difficult to ride and even lunge sometimes and does that funny hop/skip canter transition, lots of tail swishing etc similar to Boots in this video. I’d love to keep following his journey and watching his updates, it’s so encouraging to know that I’m not alone in this and hopefully find some useful training methods to use on my own boy and our schooling 🤞🏻

Amy Cook have a look into the premier performance gastro plus. Ulcers can be in the hind gut and sometimes a different treatment can be all it takes. Hope you find some more answers for your boy XX

Good for you, Helen, for being brave and changing schools and training. That had to be very daunting. But the move seems to have had such a positive impact on Boots 👍🏻😊🤗 what a cute boy! Thank you both for working so hard to find the answers!

This was a very good video Miri!! You explained everything so well, it was almost as we were having the class with your student. Please thank her for us ^_^ and Boots is such a gorgeous horse.

Love watching you ride, Miri, but watching you teach is just as incredible. It's clear to see how knowledgeable you are, and I appreciate that you explain each exercise so that the rider truly understands the reasoning behind it. Thank you for keeping the welfare of the horse first priority always. They give so much to us that we need to listen to them and give back to them through our care. Wish there could be one of you at every yard!

I’m watching this video for the 2nd TIME. I’m a Patreon subscriber and would like a video if you can explaining the hand positions like you were explaining to the rider especially when transitioning from the trot to the canter. I apparently don’t understand or have never been taught this. You talk about softening the hands and using the legs while in The canter. I’m sure others could benefit from your knowledge. Perhaps, you will be doing a video on this as we progress from the groundwork videos you’ve done. Thank you in advance for the wonderful training videos and I love watching you ride.

The change in Boots' motion from when he started there and at the end of the video is so dramatic and amazing. I don't want to say that he wasn't in condition before but maybe just not the correct condition. Great job, the both of you.

Boots is such a handsome horse. And it is so nice to see him increasing in his relaxation and the way he utilizes his body. Clearly he is so much happier now. That must be so satisfying for all three of you :) PS I may have missed it, but how old is Boots? Thanks for posting.

An excellent example of adopting a thorough, holistic approach to horse care. You are inspirational Miri. Your videos are so informative. Should you experience moments of self-doubt (as most of us do), look back at this - another example of why you do what you do - you have serious skills😊

As a non-horse person I found this very interesting. It reminded me of my dog trainer, the way you encouraged and helped show the desired behaviour instead of forcing it, which was the way it was done when I used to ride twenty years ago. Or maybe I was just at a bad school...

This was a fab video! Thanks for letting to be shared Helen! (Just one thing, the volume on when you're shouting to her in the lesson. Great but a bit too loud kinda blew my ears off, maybe lesson the volume of those parts in later vids so it matches with the rest of the volume) x

I am terrible. My first thought was to wonder if his back was tight or sore. Hindlegs together in the canter is a classic symptom of a sacroiliac issue. So lectured myself to stop making assumptions. Although to be fair to myself, it's something that I am very preoccupied with due to that being my horse's problem. Looking forward to seeing more videos about Boots.

Standardbred Adventures no this is definitely on our radar. When he had his physio treatment he was tight in his hips and much better after second treatment so will continue this way and see where we get to 😊

I bought a mare 1,5 years ago. I wanted a horse to go hacking and some light dressage. When she arrived she was shut off completely. Like there was no soul in that horse. We had bought her from a woman doing tourist riding. She was used to being treated quite harshly, after all, she had to be on her best behavior to keep the tourists safe. She is extremely sensitive and nervous so this was horrible for her. She HATED being ridden. She had SO many phsyical problems on top of being traumatized. She had to learn that noone was going to harm her anymore and there was no pressure. I fixed all of the physical issues and also did trauma therapy for her. She has made such a great improvement over the last year! I ride bitless with her now because she associates the bit with all the negative things and I dont want to do that to her. I am so glad I never gave up on her. I doubted us so many times, not being sure if she would ever be safe to ride. Your own riding story really helped me to gain confidence and seeing you struggle made me realise its okay to not be perfect! I love your videos, thank you so much

In the beginning it looked like his back end was just there to "prop up" his body. Much improved now. Not when you ride but when the owner rides, she rises much higher & the saddle seems to move up and down a lot could this be contributing to his stiff back?
