Steve, brother John, Roger King and Rob Townsend performing acoustic versions of The Red Flower Of Tai Chi Blooms Everywhere and Hands Of The Priestess with a bit of improvisation thrown in for good measure.

To watch this medley of his older stuff in this intimate setting is absolutely sublime. So different for him and so well done. One of the world's most unique musicians. Never ceases to amaze. Thank you so much for this.

The beginning is from the "Concerto pour orgue, cordes et timbales" (organ, strings and timpani) by Francis Poulenc, a French composer

The second from Spectral Mornings. The Red Flower of Tachai Blooms Everywhere? Oops then it went to something else. From Please Don't Touch?
@bernab4 жыл бұрын
Now I understand it. It sounded to me almost Messiaen , but not exactly Messiaen. So, Poulenc is normal. I think it's normal that they used the whole tone scale, because I think Tigermoth? Or one part of Lost Time In Cordoba used that scale.
@kennybluet55274 жыл бұрын
@@bernab yeah on Cordoba I think he was finger picking augmented triads. Love Spectral Mornings.

@@kennybluet5527 Yes, that's it. Sort of C-E-G# and transposing whole tones.
@kennybluet55274 жыл бұрын
@@bernab haven't heard the whole Spectral album in a long time. I love Steve Hackett's work so much. Got my phone charging while practicing on my SG and saw your comment. Started playing whole tone scales. Hackett fans are the best.

too many musicians reading their music parts...rock n roll musicians are suppose to learn their part.IMO But great piece of music...

that damned nasal sounding soprano sax ruined it for me, flutes were great.
