I got into sewing because my daughters are very different sizes but like to dress a like. Now they are loving dresses but as it gets cooler they are still wanted to wear summer dresses. You never see longer jackets for kids. This is a perfect idea. Now I just need to do the mental math. Yikes I knew what you were going to :) what I would have done. And man oh man I have totally make that mistake before. Thankfully, I have also had extra fabric but it was a good lesson for me to slow down too.

Diana, LOVE your excellent and entertaining videos!! TWO QUESTIONS: 1) How much extra fabric is needed for the duster length? Would an extra yard be sufficient for a size 10-12? 2) What brand are your pattern magnets and where did you buy them? Do you have something under your cutting mat to get them to cling to it? Thanks for all you do! I learn so much!
@eloiseezra51943 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think a yard should be enough as you are only adding inches to the length. My set is a DIYstyle cutting mat system. Its a magnetic cutting board with magnets for pattern weights. We do have a video here on our channel where Ny talks about how you can make your own magnetic cutting board! you should check it out!

Yep, we all make mistakes!😂 They usually happen if I’m hurrying. I have to remind myself to slow it down, I’ll be much happier with the finished garment and be proud of my accomplishment if I do.

Where did you find the magnets that you use to hold your patterns down? What do you use under your mat for them to hold your patterns?
@eloiseezra51943 жыл бұрын
Its a magnetic mat. Ny has an awesome video here in our channel showing how you can create your own ❤️

I love all of your videos. Question; Do you finish off your serged edges or do you trust the seams will stay together?
@eloiseezra51943 жыл бұрын
depending on where they are. I leave my necklines be most of the time and have not had an issue but here on the sides up front where the band ends I do go over them with a zigzag stitch ❤️

I love this!!! Did you use the straight fit or the curvy fit Chapman?
@eloiseezra51943 жыл бұрын
I used the curvy fit but this should work with both as we are adding and then compensating for the addition.

Can I ask you what your differential feed is on and your stitch length ? I’m working with a chenille fabric and I have a brother serger but can’t seem to get my settings right on it 😭❤️

Working on this hack now and I need help! I followed the directions from the blog post and watched this video. Somehow I have a ton of extra neckband. I am making size XL, so I followed the pattern piece directions to add an inch and a half for tunic length and then the four added inches. I pinned from the bottom to the star without stretching, and now I have way more neckband than I need for the section between the stars. When it says stretch between the stars, does it mean stretch the body? That's the only way this neckband would fit on.
@EllieandMacPatternsLLC3 жыл бұрын
no, you should be stretching the band. If you are using light weight or fabric with a lot of stretch the band might have stretched out. I would trim the band to fit and re sew the edges. the result will be the same ❤️
