I totally agree with you, there are definitely pros and cons to both! I'm a long time Apple user and I've been going back and forth on Hackintoshes. I've never gone as far as building one mostly because I got the impression that they are/were finicky. Having worked in exclusively macOS-based environments (post-prod, editing booths) and having a IT security focus, I've never found it particularly sustainable to try to figure out whether the latest updates would brick a workstation (or the thought of having a security flaw sneaking in via the 3rd party un-signed bootloaders/drivers because Apple wouldn't sanction them). Having all my self-built PCs break down way sooner than my macs didn't help matters either. I think it all depends on where and how you want to spend your time and money, you can't really get everything. Apple's thrown a hammer into the works with the Silicon migration, so it's only a matter of time before Hackintoshes are obsolete.

I am a big time windows user, and the 13th gen Intel CPU with 40 series GPU's work great for my content creation work. I do keep my old hackintosh around, and can use it when I want to play around in Mac OS. Mac has some great features, but as you say its limited for some GPU intensive apps, or really really expensive (The Ultra with 128GB and a large drive is insane). Sadly I think Hackintosh is slowly disappearing. It was a great learning curve, but unless Apple decides to upgrade its intel machines, then It may be time to leave the Mac behind. I do have a little hope here, as I am not sure apple can justify building great 3D hardware and the meta-verse etc will begin to grab more creator attention. Apple has yet to update its flagship cheese grater, so we may see them keep intel around, as there is no alternative to raw power when it comes to GPU intensive work, and generating heat is not Apples forte. Will have to wait and see where Apple nVidia, Intel and AMD take us next.

Long time linux guy who got fed up with constant tinkering and moved over to hackintosh. Eventually bought the m1 macbook but wanted more performance so built another hackintosh. I have been trying to get into doing ML and so decided i would convert my hack to a linux system with an nvidia gpu. I'm at the point now where I don't want to spend time being technical with my computing setup beyond improving productivity. So I've recently moved back to an m3 max macbook and even though its not as powerful as my hack, its good enough and is probably going to save me time in terms of having a system that just works and will have a longer (easier) upgrade path. Honestly i just wish that mac could offer better performance than its competitors (for desktop).

hackintosh till 2025-26. thats the end. But as a VJ, i can't put a hackintosh in my backpack with a mini 2k monitor or a pair of Nreal Airs. so, ill take the studio and the AR glasses (2 years ahead of apple) from nreal air. fits in backpak = winner. Need more performance at home, just 10 Gbit Ethernet link a winddown's desktop with Nvidia 40 series.

Nah, you were right the first time; it's insanely difficult and will become even more difficult - or even impossible - once Apple fully drops Intel/Rosetta support, which should be happening...any day now?

Acho que você está completamente enganado, hoje qualquer hackintosh de ponta acaba sendo melhor, fora as melhorias advindas do opencore que facilitou muito a instalação... Não pense que você possui um trunfo nas mangas...

The way he looks at the side ... I am damn sure some one from apple made him do it at gunpoint😶
