But it looks wrong to me. Google search 'Jon Sinclair trail forearm graphs' for 65 of the best pro golfers (ie. ones that have won majors and multiple pga tournaments). You will find that their trail forearms supinate for most of the golf downswing until just a split second from impact where they lose a slight amount of supination. But their trail forearm are frankly in supination at impact . Rob is forgetting that there is a certain amount of upper body pivot , plus some trail shoulder protraction , plus internal rotation of the trail upper arm that assists in clubface closure while the forearm increases its supination . There is also something called circumduction of the trail wrist that happens by the coupled movement of ulnar deviation and flexion that will tend to open the clubface , not close it . The real reason for clubface closure is supination of the lead forearm , while the trail wrist is actually trying to control too much 'Rate Of Closure'. But obviously this seems to happen with pros who have superior swing biomechanics than recreational golfers. If Rob wishes to discuss the reality using AMM3D graphs and other scientific proof from world renowned golf biomechanical experts,there is a 'closed user group' forum called ' Golf Biomechanics' on facebook hosted by Nick Chertock.

I have to say this is an absolutely amazing video! I was doing something several years ago where it felt like my trail arm was chopping like a karate chop or something like that. And I was hitting the ball amazingly well and I had never considered that they can all three move independently the way you describe in this video. Also I love that you made it position one two three with each separate component! That is perfectly actionable! This makes sense as I have just solved a lot more of how the trail Hand Works and and how to use and create lag etc. This makes so much sense. I can't thank you enough for this video

K.I.S.S. Extensor action fixes all of this. It guarantees proper left and right arm rotation, both of which involve only the upperarm,the brachii, if you will. Pull on the grip in both directions gently like keeping a rope taut. Hold that gentle tug taut throughout the swing. Your arms will rotate perfectly. Homer Kelly described this in Golfing Machine. Hogan did it, although he never said he did. He appeared to. Keeps the left arm straight, too. Try it. Works for me.

With your swing which I think is spot on how much "power" do you supply with the trail arm or js it just along for the ride?
@beranbr
@beranbr 15 күн бұрын
True power in the golf swing is coming from the larger muscles. Your legs, core, and back are the engine that creates the power. Personally, I wouldn't "feel" like I am creating power with the trail arm. This may lead to some bad swing habits. I always feel like the lead arm is simply an extension of the club that connects to the body. The trail arm is what controls the path the club takes and the way the club head is delivered to the ball (ie face angle to path).

Thanks! Miss is a terrible hook. Have doozies even when keeping trail wrist bent but elbow must be P2 heading for P1. P2 plus a little early release and you can do 5' high hooks out of trees around a dogleg...not so useful off the tee. I now fully appreciate why Hogan had the image of elbows in & bound with a wrap. Also cupped left wrist. I actively wring my hands on the grip to resist trail forearm over rotating. Hack motion would record a huge variety of things during my bad rounds. 😂

It was while rebooting my swing after retiring in my late 50s with Hogan’s Five Lessons that I realized the hidden genius of the Vardon style grip, used properly, is that it literally forces the trail arm to fold ideally creating the leverage necessary to control the club IF one takes the club away outside the hands as Hogan suggested. Prior to rebooting according to Hogan I had swing faults I now see in many beginning and self-taught intermediate golfers: an underhanded grip with the trail hand which allows the lead arm to rotate and pronate the lead hand resulting in the club swinging inside too far back which then causes the lead arm to bend at the elbow dooming the swing to mediocrity and chronic slicing. While working through Hogans book I also bought one of the short weighted grip trainers moulded to put the hands in the proper place. Because it is too short to ground it also forces you to grip the club in the arm with bent elbows at sides which I realized made it much easier to get my hands together properly and caused my forearms and hands to rotate inward (>

@jacobr4558
@jacobr4558 Ай бұрын
Pull hook can happen for a lot of reasons! It could be as simple as your grip it could be not turning your body enough it could be having really fast arms it could be something you do with your hands. Are you even correct and describing it as a pull hook? There's no one quick fix for that but if I had any guess it'd probably just be your grip.

Consistency of wrist position is my biggest problem right now. I know it, I know which position is correct, I know which positions I tend to use naturally, but I can’t seem to use the correct one repeatedly without it being my sole swing thought. Do you have any drills to engrained it into my swing?

Find a piece of scrap 1/8 inch thick plastic and cut a 2x5 inch piece. Slide one end under your velcro glove strap and the other end under your watch or golf watch to keep your left wrist straight. The plastic is not conductive, so it won't interfere with your electric watch charging conductors on the back side!. Some credit cards are metal. You also might drop your credit card on the course, and you'll be driving around looking for it.

Rob I’ve watched this a couple of times, knowing it’s vital, however I just don’t grasp it due to complexity. Can you not break this complexed forearm and wrist into 2 videos or when you instruct show how not to do it initially, but not mention it again as I’m getting lost between the methodology. can’t you call the elbow forearm) position 1-3 and your wrist a-c? Sorry guess it’s my age, there always has to be one plonker😮 that’s getting confused.

Looks like you're making a punch shot not allowing the trail wrist to unhinge. Interesting but more to it than discussed imo. Essentially you're " holding on" ie: consciously controlling the wrists.

That seems very handsy. Chest rotation and wind up will square up the clubface without so much hand rotation. Seems inconsistent and difficult as a method.
