I grew up as a generational cohort-too young to be classified as a gen x, too old as a millennial. So I have different longings sometimes make me an outsider. Grew up watching and learning from my 2 favorite cousins, (both born in the 70’s), and was lucky to remember WELL, and experience (just luck) that last time when things were, guess you can say, different. Sadly, my 2 cousins joined the culture they disliked…1 is doing well, the other is not-on drugs and dying of cancer…told me last week 😭 But I agree with many comments here. People do blindly follow what’s hot; they follow pay attention to their phones when the world needs them. However, people like this still exist. You have to search long and hard-like skimming through old vinyls. We still exist. I think of it as that old myth about Pandora’s Box. The box still exists. Hope still lives inside. Love you all,

Thanks so much for letting me know you’d put this up brilliant footage of amazing times if only we could put events like this on today I think it would go a long way to heal so much of the division we see today I guess division is the name of the game Thanks again much love and respect 🙏

Yeah I agree totally. These Days everything is Polarised and Monitored. I miss the Freedom that We enjoyed back in the 90’s.

Shame there's no alternative scene anymore, and little in the way of protests. Almost everyone seems to be pacified by their phones nowadays. Bread and circuses!
@jherekcarnelian88226 күн бұрын
Depends where you look. There's plenty going on if you know where to find it. The Dogstar in Brixton is now being squatted and talk of parties and protests is in the air. Out in the West you got The New Age Collective putting on free parties and keeping that part of the scene still alive. Bristol and Falmouth are a hub of alternative culture with plenty of happenings on a regular basis. And then there's "Rockaway Park" out at Temple Cloud. Just change where you're looking and you'll find plenty of sub-culture things still occuring

@jherekcarnelian882 The scene was nationwide, and the alternative culture was huge in places like London. This was before the criminal justice Bill and the criminalisation of squatting gained momentum. Ketamine also did a lot of damage to the scene. A few scattered remnants remain today - but nothing in comparison to what was. You could find your tribe almost anywhere - it was a magical time.

@jherekcarnelian882 Not the same. The alternative scene was massive back in the day.
@jherekcarnelian88222 күн бұрын
@DeeJay003 I never said it was the same. The Criminal Justice Act pretty much killed off bigger events. Things like "Fordham Park Free Festival" etc. But what I'm highlighting is it's not all as doom and gloom as the OG poster on this thread makes out. There has always been a core sub-culture scene in existence, with plenty of fanzines bringing attention to local gigs/protests etc. You just have to go looking a bit harder
@redbeki25 күн бұрын
It was all still quite DIY back then . Before the criminal justice bill really hit, and big corp took over festivals . This is a gem of a film.

Here`s to the 11 or so folks that didn`t quite get any further than the Put Logs pub on the eve of the festival. No thanks to the corrupt Metropolitan police force, but most of us got paid off in the end. Was it worth it? Now i can find out by watching this. Thank you in advance for the video and would love to see any new footage of the beanfield. RIP Womble and crew.
