I would think that a four post rolling lift would be so handy in a shop like that. Bent metal and a lift can make it come the direction that you need. Also a good plasma cutter for trimming the odd things under a rig that isn't accessible any other way. A necessary thing is good ventilation. Fumes from fuel tanks and doing the carbon canisters not to get into the many engine/transmission testers. I also like having space for the second project as stuff is not down when you need a part, stop that one till the items needed show and move over to the other.

The shelving looks linkable, I have something similar in my storage unit. Left to right is riser-shelves-shared riser- shelves-shared riser-shelves- riser, that way I could keep my shelves as close together as possible. And I have set it up with a 2m open work bench in the middle with a 2in hitch set up supporting my vise or grinder.

Love the shrine to the god of speed, two options for the camshaft. The first, a candelabra so that you can light a flame when a new piece is presented on the altar. An open flame could be a little dangerous. The second, weld half an old circular saw blade to one end to make a Mad Max battleaxe, this could be a little dangerous, so mount it high up out of reach. cool weapons have tassels off the handle so dangle old car key chains and skulls off it. Love how relaxed in front of the camera you are.

Hoppers Crossing Lads ? Im 52 and grew up as a kid there, born and bred in the old area of Hoppers. I guess you must be out wide in new estates that have progressed there ? Old Geelong road I used to catch Rabbits and done my apprenticeship at a very well known business there called Bronson Sheetmetal. The owner who established it (me being there first employee) has a passion for old cars. Good on you lads, unfortunately Hoppers Crossing is not what it once was many years ago , as same as Werribee. My Parents are still there and my Father is a dedicated motor enthusiast all his life that is connected to the Werribee Car Club. Love your videos, and itching to see more progress on the XY asap.

One thing i would like nto add, if your welding helmet has a solar panel in it to keep the battery charged it might help to keep it stored somewhere it can get some light. Will prolong the battery life is all and just a thought ;)
@HackshopGarage
@HackshopGarage 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great point, I had never thought of that, thanks for pointing that out mate
@terryjackson4538
@terryjackson4538 2 жыл бұрын
The solar panel charges as you weld, that's why it faces the same way as the lens or is part of the lens. The UV rays from welding charge the batteries. you shouldn't need to charege it in the sun unless you use it a lot as a grinding shield.
@smokinthem351
@smokinthem351 2 жыл бұрын
@@terryjackson4538 Hi Terry it would just depend on the amount of welding and the time between welding jobs. So I don’t want to be a negative Nancy but hey what’s your point ?
@terryjackson4538
@terryjackson4538 2 жыл бұрын
Both my workshop helmet that lives in a bag to keep it clean and the helmets at the local tafe that I have used over the years never get put out in the sun to charge. I can go weeks and even months without using my helmet and it's still charged. In 15 years I've never had one go flat. They don't actually need sunshine. I'm not being negative about putting your helmet in sunshine, just that it doesn't need it. On the same grounds though, leaving plastic in the sun will degrade the helmet itself.

Great shed and setup Guys. Sadly, i live in Brisbane, and BCCouncil laws state that i cannot build any shed around your size, on my property(up to 10 sq metres allowed only). They state that any back or side wall of the shed must sit off the fence line around 6 metres, making it impossible to build any shed on a typical city suburban block. The crazy thing is that they are letting homeowners subdivide their blocks of land, and erect detached house dwellings that are built up to or on the fence line of that property. Go figure that one out! I'm assuming you got Council approval to build yours and everything turned out AOK. I enjoy your show, and keep up the good work. Greg.

10sq metres is often the limit for building a shed without a permit required (so people can build a little garden shed etc) Contact a shed builder and they should be able to advise.

What state are you in ? I have been talking to draftsmen , builder certifiers , shed builders in Qld and because of my residential zoning and town planing they are all telling me its very difficult to go above 3.6m total height and beyond 56sqm floor space . Looks like a great setup and well thought out glad im not the only one thats not OCD about workshop setups
