That's what people mean when they refer to him as a "character-actor"-there's no real distinction between how he acts on-camera and how he acts when nobody's watching, and that's a huge part of why people like him so much.

Honestly this was just a really refreshing talk on JP films. As a huge fan of the franchise I recognize the sequels all have good and bad parts and nothing will ever touch the original. Having said that it always seems like most talk of the sequels are always just super negative and about everything people didn't like. So hearing you two just go back and forth about the good and and bad and just being generally more positive than most movie talks on this series was a nice change. Thanks guys!

I still like The Lost World JP 2 almost as much as the original. It's got so many great action scenes plus my favorite character Ian Malcolm. Fallen Kingdom and Dominion have turned Owen and Claire into action movie heroes. Owen jumping through a T-Rex's open jaws seems like something Indiana Jones would've done to escape a closing temple door in Temple Of Doom. Claire using that metal pipe to flip the raptor in Dominion reminded me exactly of Indy using a broken flagpole to flip that soldier on a motorcycle in The Last Crusade. My favorites: 1. Jurassic Park 2. The Lost World 3. Jurassic World 4. JP 3 5. Dominion 6. Fallen Kingdom

The Lost world has some of my favorite scenes in movie history. I mean, that scene where the two t-rex appear surrounding the car while it's trying to save the people on the trailer, that was A-FREAKING-MAZING. The scene with the raptors and the high grass, was pretty damn good too. I really loved that movie even if they are right when they say the pace is really bad. Jurassic Park 3 was very disappointing back then but now it feels like some very light fun. I have some problems with the world trilogy. I feel like they think I am stupid every time I watched them. Like the film makers are laughing at me and I don't like that feeling. Those movies cross too many lines for me.

Why on earth do people dislike the San Diego sequence in The Lost World

well from my take - theres a few factors. 1. The main characters are so unlikable that by the time they escape the island, you hope it ended already. It feels like a 4th act. 2. The entire way they GET to San Diego is just stupid. The ship arrives much like Dracula in the eponymous story, but where a ghost ship makes sense in a supernatural film it doesnt when its a damned TRex. No survivors? A hand on the wheel? A 4 story dino locked in a hold? 3. The whole Japanese tourists and Godzilla scene. 4. The silly use of the baby to lead it back to the hold. 5. The very neat and tidy way everything wraps up considering how it all goes to hell from the island onward. 6. Its less grounded than anything in any of the other JP films combined

It’s funny, Tony hating Ian Malcom going to the second island is one of my favorite parts. One island was bad enough, but after two. It's a watered down version of the original. The characters are a joke, the plot is literally no different than the first and I'm honestly sick of seeing the t Rex win everything. At least JP3 gave us a new adversary, and Dominion had the rex need a partner to kill the giga. And one who did more than a few bites and scratches before being thrown through a window like the raptors in JW1.

I had just turned 3 when JP came out. I don’t think I have any remaining memories from that point in time. But I have always told everyone JP is the absolute first memory I have going to see a movie. I grew up in a family owning a movie theater so I think that speaks volumes

Saw it in the drive in as a double feature with The Flinstones... The Flinstones played first so i had to wait 90 something minutes to see the movie i wanted to watch.. Probably saw it more but i was like 7 turning 8 when the Flinstones double feature came out The sequels were disappointing but i enjoyed Lost World. Dominion wasnt worth the one year wait

If you're looking for a sequel, Lost World by far. Progresses the themes and (some) characters and continues quality directing and vfx. If you're looking for a nostalgic remake/reboot/legacy sequel - Jurassic World.

Totally agree that I loved Lost World so much since I was a kid but always hated the last scene with the T Rex in the city. So many good tense moments. I also really loved Fallen Kingdom, but again like Lost World, I really didn't like when they got to the mansion and that whole sequence.

I want to see the Dino human hybrid soldiers they wanted for one of the sequels. The concept art looked cool. Though I’m aware it’s not a classy Dino film like Spielberg would want. I still have the original Dennis Nedry figure. I believe it looks nothing like Wayne Knight because it was based on concept art of the character because production likely went into action in preproduction of the film before the character was cast.

It’s The Lost World hands down because even lesser Spielberg is still Spielberg. The rest of the sequels are just painfully bland. I’ll give the second half of Fallen Kingdom some credit for having the audacity to lean into weird gothic haunted house horror and just embrace the insanity of that but that’s not saying it’s a great film by any means. I just find that nonsense more interesting than 3 or Jurassic World. Dominion is just bad across the board.

Jurassic World: Dominion - Extended Cut is such a necessary view. That cut makes my watching of the movie enjoyable. It adds back motivation for characters. The movie is still a crazy hot mess, but at least I care with that longer cut.

Live action, impressive suites, there was a big skeleton train that carried the bad guys around. I think it's on KZbin to view. As I said, Ninja Turtle rip off through and through, but it's so great.

I'm with the guest on most of these points. Never seen your videos before but Gods seems you really have a chip on your shoulder for Lost World...lol Lost World is still the best sequel for Jurassic Park, no contest. It more than "it has it's moments" imo. Still some great characters, love Jeff Goldblum in this as Ian Malcolm, love Eddy in this (R.I.P.) and one of my all-time favorite characters and actors of Jurassic Park sequels, Pete Postlethwaite as Roland Tembo. Love the action sequences and the amazing the practical effects the did to make this work. The musical score is still really a knockout. To your own to get jaded about it but I fully disagree that it's phoned in here. The only thing I did like was Vince Vaughn being in this (can't stand him as an actor). Everything that I loved as a kid I still enjoy a bunch here. Jurassic Park 3 is still trash to me as a JP movie. There's some things I do like if Im gonna be honest. I like the Spinosaurus, I love the Pteranodon cage sequence and I love the sequence of them being in the rundown laboratory. But everything else is trash to me, aside from. Sam Neil back from Alan Grant is the ONLY character I like. Everyone else is annoying and I am not invested in anyone else. There's not enough setup or meaningful development of them or scenes of them with dialogue that pulled me in. Sorry to the big fans and big defenders but this remains my least favorite by far (haven't seen Dominion yet, but it'll be hard to be worse than this for me personally). Jurassic World I absolutely loved. It's a big dumb film, but absolutely loved the wonder of the Park being fully open. Loved the Indominous Rex as being a representation of these things being monsters and not fully fledged Dinosaurs. Loved the Mosasaurus and welcomed them bringing pre-historic aquatic animals finally. I liked the movie keeping with the capitalistic tones that the first 2 films were about, but showing it on such a larger scale. Liked having Henry Wu back. The big dumb finale was SO enjoyable. Aside some weakly written characters, I didn't really have much that I hated or disliked. I think your cracked for not liking the finale of it *shrug*. Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is a movie I still really enjoyed but it has some glaring problems with the third act. Absolutely the opening is fantastic for me and an all-time high of the franchise for me. Intense, creepy. Def need more scenes in Jurassic Park/World movies of Dinosaurs in rainstorms. I liked but not sure if I love the Indoraptor, still undecided. The score was absolutely great, the Indo's theme I listen to multiple times. I def got choked up with the scene of the Brachiosaurus dying and even felt bad when the ones at the Estate were being killed by the lethal gas. But the whole auctioning off Dinosaurs (especially at such low amounts) is absolutely the dumbest plot point for me so far...could've been handled much better imo. Def got tired of Chris Pratt in this one, I liked him in the first one but once was enough for me. I did not like the extra protagonists in this one and the antics they get into. Unlike Jurassic Park 1, Lost World and even Jurassic World where I either loved or liked characters, I just wasn't into many of the characters.
