My main issue with requiem (aside the lighting) is it has this edgy mean spiritedness that keeps it from even being fun. Honestly the whole gene splicing thing would have been interesting if it was a source of conflict in the Yautja (Predator) society. Like one group sees it as the means to make the perfect hunter, and another thinks it's cheating and that these things are abominations. Which results in a kind of civil war. That very well could have been the case with the lesser Predator trying to give mankind a super suit, but it wasn't exactly explained. Then you can have the cake of giving the Predators a new motive, and eat it without completely rewriting the established lore.

Part of Prey’s reason for going straight to streaming was because they had to honor fox’s contract with HBO Max. If it was released in theaters, it would have an exclusive deal to stream on HBO Max. Disney didn’t wanna give them any money.

My list would be like Tony's except I'd move AvP up to C tier. It lacks a lot, but I always find it fun. I like a lot of the characters (like goofy dad guy and especially Henriksen with his "don't turn your back on me" bit) and a lot of moments. And I actually like the Antarctica setting. I just think they should've had something in the plot showing that the Preds were out of their element by being in the cold.

The AvP Predator suits were made for taller actors that for whatever reason werent in the movie..so the suit actors used were a little shorter in height which caused the predator suits to kind of sulk and look bulky rather than being stretched to fitting the proportions they were designed to for the original actors..than they add all the armor and boom clunky chunky chungus predators.

Fans today are whack, they loved sigourney weaver, linda hamilton but scoff at amber midthunder because "woman beats predator" and "feminism" blah blah blah lol Facepalm moment. Narus journey made sense. She failed most of the time. She learnt how to beat the predator by watching it watch her lol it didnt see her as a threat until she proved herself a worthy challenger. Tarbe nearly got the predator with superior speed, horsemanship, bowmanship and the predators pride against it. If it wasnt for the cloak tarbe would have won. This movie didn't beat down men, to uplift a woman. It was actually refreshing for hollywood to not put modern American politics in a movie about aliens and 18th century natives lol

You're missing the point. This woman defeated the predator without getting a scratch. She became a skilled hunter in a matter of days. She couldn't even catch wild rabbits but two days later she can catch a predator. I thought it was a good movie but I'm not going to be over the top like some people are about this movie who are calling it great or the 2nd best. A lot of plot armor, weak characters, no memorable quotes. It was just an ok movie.

Prey is my second favorite in the franchise. The cinematography was beautiful, set & costume designs were fantastic, and I really liked the two main characters. The Feral Yautja had more of a horror look that perfectly fit with the story and we got to see some different Predator tech. I really liked the parallels of how the Predator and Naru kind of mirrored each other, too. The Feral Yautja has a cloaking device to make himself invisible and is a solitary hunter. Naru, who wishes to become the only female hunter in her tribe, feels invisible when she's not taken seriously by some of the other male hunters. The scene where Naru enters the trappers camp and the ending were my favorite scenes.

Yes, so much tension for the main character after she survives a 30-foot fall directly onto the back of her skull. Wakes up goes, 'Ooh that stings', fine. Leg in a trap designed to snap bone. Oh it's a little scratch, no big deal. She doesn't even limp. Eye rolling physics of yanking an axe 25 feet directly into her hand perfectly every time. Then the magic flower that lowers body temperature to hypothermic levels (a loss of even 3 degrees of baseline body temperature is often fatal) with no ill effects, that takes effect in approximately 30 seconds from putting it in your mouth. She's not a Mary Sue, she's just a superhero. And the visual style of the movie is on par with a Marvel picture. Same gloss, and there is no dirt or grit or sweat. It's just silly.

The Snyder Cut did exist before they spent 70 million dollars to finish the FX and shoot a couple of scenes.....People knew that because there were people who had been at test screenings, one of them specifically described the Snyder Cut to Kevin Smith on his podcast as the version of the film they saw.. There was a synopsis of the Snyder version from someone else who had attended a test screening. They had said the FX were about 85-90% finished. The difference between Justice League and most other movies is it was known that the film was finished the FX were being done and multiple cuts had been assembled before Snyder had to step away after the family tragedy and WB decided behind his back to have Whedon rewriting parts and were planning to reshoot 70 pages of movie

Reason to xeno (grid) killed two predators. Was because these Yaujta were young bloods (teenagers) sent in as a trial hunt. They don’t explain this specifically but when have the predator movies told you stuff specifically. They aren’t experienced as other tribes of predators. Both Celtic and Chopper weren’t experienced. Scar lasted a little longer but that’s from the Plasma gun

They should have done the predator in the AvP game style. Marines fly to a foreign planet because of a distress call. Some scientist found the eggs frozen and you get the point. While the Marines are occupied with killing the Aliens another species makes it's way to the planet. Just imagine all the possibilities. 1:11:18 She's not a Mary Sue but the plot armor she has is really annoying. So many times where she gets away due to pure luck... Not to mention the bear trap and her having like zero injuries when in reality her leg could easily have been broken if not at least sprained.

The Predator is the worst. Aliens vs Predator Requiem is underrated. Yeah the movie is too dark but of what we see of action and practical effects it's good. The story of a predator coming to earth to "clean sh*t up" is interesting. The predator in question, Wolf, is the most badass Predator of the franchise next to the OG. The Predalien is dope. The characters (besides the pizza guy and his girl) are alright. The gore is next level. Anyways I love it.

In prey, The most important metaphor is when she is tied to the tree and telling her brother that beaver story. She says to her brother that she is "Smarter then a beaver". This line has so many layers. First, the actor is named Dakota Beavers, then she first saw the Predator when she was hiding in a beaver dam, and the most important is that "beaver" is a low-brow slang for lady parts. So she is saying she is smarter then her brother and other women

Tony most of the channels that created content assuming Prey WOULD be woke openly admitted after seeing the film that they were wrong, and the movie was actually a good example of an original strong female protagonist in a big budget mainstream film. There may have been some insecure holdouts that claimed after seeing the film that it was still woke, but this seems to be a very small majority.

I haven´t seen Prey yet. The worst one is (IMO) "The Predator", followed by the first AvP. I have a soft spot for AVP2 since a.) it is an actually horror movie and not a kids movie like AVP1 b.) it is more in line with the lore of the franchises (AVP1 had Predators in the snow cooperating with humans) and c.) it had a Predator in a rural area! So my ranking (best to worst) would be: P1, P2, AvP2, Predators, AVP1, The Predator

@kdawg1991 It is not only bad because of the autism plot. The entire "the Predators are not trophy hunters because they want to upgrade their DNA"-stuff was idiotic. They have a "good" predator that "wants to rescue the humans" for some reason ... but he still kills and skins humans!)! They have a big cast of characters and actors (including Thomas Jane!) that are just perfect to be hunted down one-by-one like the characters in Predator 1,2, and Predators ... but they all survive to the third act and are killed off in a lame shoot-out / action sequence. There wasn´t any suspenseful "hunting" in it! The dialouge and comedy is totaly out of place and the main character was a charisma-vakuum. The Predator is as bad as "Independence Day 2" or "The Last Jedi".

I saw it on video when it came out and mimicked waaaay too many bits of dialogue that, at age 8 or 9, I was maybe too young to understand. 😂 Also…Predator 2 only got one thing wrong about 1997. The one good thing about The Predator is that Black knew there was no point in keeping the pred mysterious. Shoot it in broad daylight tearing shit up. That's the way to go, and it delivers on that. That lab scene is one of the best predator action sequences in existence. The rest - botched ending, superhuman autism, global warming, everything is overcomplicated - is a complete mess. But it's still a lot less boring than Predator 2.
