You know how long it took me to realize Burt was the dad off Family Ties? Tremors 2 was the one that got me into the series. The problem with the last 3 films was that they didn't understand what made the series so awesome. The last 3 treated Burt like straight up comic relief. What made his character so funny was how serious and paranoid he was, and how extreme his solutions tended to be.

Burt Gummer will return. He will be found in an upcoming movie living on the island as some kind of hermit who has lost his memory due to exposure to the digestive juices of the worm. The same juices have made him heal and given him an extended life span so a new actor can play the role. This will provide the opportunity to return and resume a similar but not exact role. Mark my words.
