Chopped and shaped chicken uses a process called grinding (a method of deboning in which the softer parts of the chicken carcass are forced through a mesh, leaving behind the more solid pieces, resulting in a meat paste.

Hi Gareth. Coming to you from South Africa. Watching you do your chicken triangles in the air fryer. Pouring the seasoning over portions. To make clean up easier, place a disposable paper cooking sheet down then put you food on top of it. Makes clean up a lot easier. Do it with all my dishes. Keep up the good work. Steve.

Well Gareth, they are what they are. We have to trust what they print on the label, 100%chicken breast meat. Not bank breaking price. Chips and maybe beans or a salad. Put two in a roll or a baguette, bit of coleslaw. Needs more spices (bigger sachets) Does seem a lot of faffing about to cook, then spice on & back into oven. Handy snack for the children at lunch or tea time. Nice little video, interesting and informative. See you in the next video Allan&Family

The more you read into it the more chopped and shaped is the same as mechanically recovered so as to use minute chicken particles made into a paste to be and held together in breadcrumbs or batter .
@JanetBrown-px2jnАй бұрын
From what I read chopped,and formed chicken is different from mechanically reclaimed chicken,and as this particular product was breast meat I don’t think that could really be the same as mechanically reclaimed chicken.

I'm still trying to come to terms with airfryer cooking. I follow the cooking guidelines, but sometimes the product gets overcooked, or become dry. So sometimes it's a bit hit and miss. I did buy an airfryer cookbook, but even then they still overcook. So I invested into a cooking thermometer. Not a bad purchase. But there again I am old school. It took ne long time to get my head around microwave cooking and induction cookers. But I do love my Sage Cooker.

When coating things like this its best to use a bag, stick them in with the flavouring, blow it up a bit and thrn give it a shake. Gives a nice and even coating.

To be honest? Chickens don't really have much more than meat to make ' reformed meat '. Unlike beef and pork that have tendons, fat and other bits in the mix. Sure, they may include the chicken jiblet's, but that doesn't bother me too much. To buy a pack of Doritos in my local Co-Op is £2.75. By the time you add a dip? You're looking at around £4 for a snack. A great review 👍👍. Yes, I think I would buy them, reformed meat or not.

I am not convinced about putting a powder onto an item, then cooking it in an air fryer, any powder that doesn't stick to the product will surely get sucked up into the fan and heating element at the top of the air fryer?

Hey Gareth, it says made with 100% chicken breast, on the front of both packs. Best wishes, Tim.
@Ian-xq4rtАй бұрын
It may be, but it's certainly been formed so suggests it's been mechanically removed (once the main breast is removed for something more expensive), just the look of the meat doesn't appeal to me, it's also melts in the mouth rather than needing to be chewed, basically it's the scraps of a chicken jet washed!!!
@timjenkins3600Ай бұрын
That's helpful thx, I didn't know that.

Yeah, DoritoMcNuggets. To be fair, you probably should have done a taste test leaving one from each package unseasoned, to say if you could tell the difference without the spice packets. I think I'd just toss the spices and use something more chicken-flavored, like the seasoning from ramen noodles, or powdered chicken boullion. Might be worth using spices to flavor sour cream, for a dip. I guess it's okay if you really don't want to go to the trouble of breading and frying chicken yourself, like cutting up strips of chicken breast. Mm, now that I'm thinking about it... yeah, with some Coleman's mustard powder stirred into sour cream for dip...
