I don't mind making mana a problem, it definitely increases the skill of the game, but it needs to be consistent across all roles. If only solo has to deal with mana problems then that just makes solo feel bad compared to everything else which just isn't as fun

I hope they learn a lot from league, but mana is the one thing that I think is unique to smite in a good way. Mana regen is good to have in smite because smite is a more fighting-focused game than League, and it works well for it. They should put mana regen in a lot more items, or, a better mechanic imo, is if they added a god talent system like DOTA 2, and allowed players to unlock a unique talent or attribute based on their gods every couple of levels that can provide various different stats like increased mana regen, or increased damage dealt from a specific ability.

@@aidentomlinson4040 I'm gonna throw this out here.. I think Mast is the only one i've seen not manage his mana in Solo. I've watched a few people and they seem to either always be at half or had a massive team fight before being on E. I think Mast is just on the "Spam cooldowns get kill" We know him for haha.

Having played a bit of this second stage of the Alpha, either most people didn't take the time to fill in the survey of the first test or Hi-Rez didn't give a f*ck about the feedback. So many QoL changes were proposed and almost none of them made it into stage 2. It sucks

Because "Nerf HP and give more damage forehead" is bad design. Laning phase means NOTHING in smite 1. It's over by wave 3. If you got ganked and died by then? Then it's an "i'll see you in 25 minutes" THAT isn't fun. THAT sucks. There's so much BLOAT in smite 1 items that it's very much unhealthy for the game entirely. They took a look at good feedback and put it in. Weeding out bad feedback that was simply "Just do this forehead" Consumable slots fall into this as well as Mana items. I wrote an entire post about this in the comments earlier, mana is no issue in Smite 1 and even in smite 2, base MP5 tends to be good enough. Consumables make people walking fountains late game. Them taking up a slot means that you use them early, mid and then chuck em for full build late. Natural progression. The higher HP's and lower damage mean we get less insta kills but more laning phase and outplay potential. Feedback is good when the change it'll bring is a healthy direction for the game itself. Not saying it should be ignored but consideration is the major point of the play test.

@@Frostbyte115agree with your bloating and item points. More hp can offer more outplay potential, however it can also limit outplay potential as well. If someone literally takes 30 autos to die, what “outplay” potential is there? Kill minions better? Not super engaging gameplay. I’d much rather TTK b too short and we work backwards, then deal w 1k hp adcs at lvl 2. It’s an alpha test, I’d prefer large sweeping changes when feedback is more accessible and digestible. Your points regarding smite 1 laning phase are valid. I think has more to do with snowballing, PVE farm, and shut down bounties. TTK early game smite post 9.5 is notoriously long edit: too long early game “Nerf hp and give more dmg” is only bad design if it is numerically implemented poorly. It isn’t bad balance philosophy as long as the reasons the change is being implanted warrants said change.

@@funwalkthroughs1285 TTK being short is part of why Smite 2 got here in the first place. Large sweeping changes already happened. ALSO to be fair, it's that high because 30autos at level 2.. SEEMS like a lot.. However when done in practice and not on paper.. You have abilities, creeps, camps etc. Also historically and we can still see it today.. I mean we can look at Incon's last Ullr vid, Jump, auto, stun, auto, stance switch auto. No crit. Or tanks being hit by a single CC in the last 4 seasons where they instantly take half from 1 mage ability. An ADC wouldn't hit 1K hp until like level 4-5 first off, secondarily that is kinda what's holding the game together atm. What's more unfun? Being hit twice and now you can't fight or being able to trade enough to know peeling back might be close? Let's ALSO not forget that we are talking about auto's from a Hades building INT not STR. Where Sol at level 2 is doing 60 and auto. Which is 12 auto's in a straight forward match up. See where that math is being clung to too hard? on Paper it's like "30 autos" But you're not building for autos? So of course it will take longer? Also Hades is a bruiser mage who has a higher hp pool so it's a lil different as well in this case. To also toss out there, His Devourer of Souls hit in a minion wave for 241 Minimal Int and only the 3 minion wave detonation damage added on Odin.. Which is 1/4 of that 1000HP bar we just mentioned. On PAPER it sounds like a lot. in practice it's not as much as you think it is. TTK in Smite 2 is at most 8s if everyone hits everything. Laning phase should be tactical and not spam buttons on CD. Like Smite 1 is even AFTER 9.5. If you really believe a single cycle of skills is how people should be falling in Smite you don't know MOBA's well enough. Not even Darius who is a noob stomper in League is quite that bad. To put emphasis on the laning phase part. Shutdown has nothing to do with Laning phase. At all, it has to deal with when anyone snowballs at any point. I only emphasized what happens WHEN a lane gets hit early. Shut down bounties were the nail in the coffin because there was no point to getting a lead anymore. Only enough a point to get marginally ahead. Just enough they couldn't fight you and not so much that you'd give them 5 levels for dying. PVE farm was part of that but that's because they said "No Snowball" and instead made the Snowball part of the waves so killing someone wasn't good but making them back? Insane. Missed a wave? down 200g missed 2 waves? Down 500g. Post 9.5 a Solo lane warrior with only a starter could kill by wave 2 and the target would likely have 1hp left. Not including potions or heal skills if anything the heal skills might be why they lived at 1 hp as is. It only increased by like..3s. Just long enough to not kill someone with a stance dancer at level 2/3. People don't like it but that's because a LOT of people played during season 5 and so one.. Even season 4 where the meta was look at someone and they die. TTK shouldn't be one cycle of skills. In any game, in any moba outside of end game. If Mages and Hunters made it to 30 minutes? They can enjoy their nukes and having like 6-8s to kill a tank. That is reasonable. But it is even after 9.5.. like 3s to kill a tank end game. Full defense... If anything 9.5 made junglers lives easier because they could gank and dive just a lil more than before. Now to consult your initial point with a more thorough answer.. The outplay potential gained is more than the lost. You say "Kill minions better?" isn't good gameplay? You obviously haven't seen how winning lane tends to work.. it's not about killing the wave. Sometimes it's killing archers only then diving them. Baiting them into scenario's they wouldn't think would be bad. When to kill all the minions as well as efficient poke. Not just poke for the sake of poke that amounts to nothing because of hp5. 9.5 compounded with the issue of items choices as well which limited kill potential or tuned it too high as well. Think about what the top items have been the last few major patches.. Hunters cowl was either too good or not good enough. Deaths toll had either too much HP or too much damage. Same for Axe. Hell we had to have SUPPORT items nerfed because Supports were healing too much from them. 9.5 alone wasn't the issue, the item balance was the problem and there was no way to get out of the hole that had been dug. Solo lost power on defensive items and needed all prots or they couldn't live. Until recently they didn't even look at Jotunns or Soul Eater again outside of a few cases. Mainly Wukong. Mages had to have items buffed with items with minion clearing PASSIVES. Not anything to do with opponent health either. Reminder they nerfed some prots in 9.5 because Mages couldn't kill early because 28 initial prots. zThe game play is finding the spots where your skills and spells get the most effective use. Not so much the chuck em and you're good thing. So far it's implemented fine. The numbers seem a lot higher than they actually are. But Smite 2 is drastically different. Also I 100% appreciate conversation about the game because I guarantee someone from Titan Forge is checking conversations about them. So don't feel like we can't continue this either i'd enjoy seeing your point of view on things.

I 100% agree with reverting 9.5. Ever since those changes, the early game for Smite has been so boring bc there is hardly any kill potential and it’s so difficult to do anything meaningful with a lead. Smite has been so late game focused and anti-snowball for the past 2.5 seasons it’s ridiculous. Really hope they don’t make the same mistake for Smite 2.

So not gonna lie..I have quite a few disagreements. Consumable slots are fine but they also were part of a problem. Now the potions have to take up an item slow so no one walks around with 5 health pots end game so if they escape they heal almost to full. That's 1. 2. it allows the potions to be as strong as they are and still be the cost. 3. MP should be a problem, when All the items got MP5 on them, Blue became useless. Additionally, balancing with mana costs became negligible. You'd have the mana when you needed it unless hyper spam with Bumba's hammer. However it also means the items that do have it? Are also an option and carry value. 4. The HP being high is fine, there's less damage in the game overall as it should kinda be to incentivize more grouped fighting. 1v1's are good but also you shouldn't 1 round of skills and the person is already 1hp. That's bad design entirely. people got super used to making quick kills, that means you have lost laning phases. Means you promote snowball. Means you can't reward outplay as much as normally the first to make it 1 player game has won the fight. 5. I don't feel like those kind of changes work for the direction Smite 2 seems to be heading towards. It's kinda why Jungle gets so much more XP but lanes get more Gold. Builds matter more for Laners but Jungle needs levels to be able to gank earlier and get their gold from killing Laners then splitting wave/doing more camps. It's a commitment where you trade the one advantage for the ability to influence the map more. Now I don't think my thinking is perfect logic however that's simply why these playtests matter. If they do a change and internally check it and it feels bad for the direction they simply won't use it. I'd like for the game to be healthier for build variety and fun and some of what Mast and a few others bring up will do only one and be bad for the other.

My problem with consumable slots not being here is that now we cant buy wards and we are stuck with 1 ward. If they at least brought back at least 1 consumable slot for wards that would be fine. I was one of the people who bought lots of wards in Smite 1 and now I cant and its annoying. In my opinion consumable slots are needed for potions and especially for wards.

@@ariton2990 Half the players don't buy them anyways. ALSO the issue with ward battles in smite 1 comes up where.. You win or lose because one side had every ward in the world and the other lacked 3. We already can't have more than 2 down at once. Also we have a slot for wards. it's on the screen. It's Z for Mast. you just have a ward that recharges. This also makes it more of a thought process to stay safe or ward so you can be aggressive. The idea of NEEDING slots for those when first off wards have a slot it's just on recharge. They are free. No gold sink, and it's a TEAM effort, not a support effort. (Old SMite 1 Joke from like season 1) But it's got a stigma stuck to it until people get higher up and a lot better. That's bad. Now EVERYONE has one, and has to drop em.

I like that you can jump and fear in Hades ult but I do think some changes should to be made to make it a bit more fair for both sides. - Hades ult can't use the 3. - Every ability cast reduces the time of the ult by 20% of max + whatever animation time the ability is cast for. - His 1 and his 2 can only be cast once per ult. They go straight on cooldown after using and can't be used even if they come off of cooldown before ult ends. BUT, Hades' other 2 abilities gain bonus effects with the ult. - Hades leap-ult pulls enemies into Hades, similar to Herc 2 but less height. Allowing Hades to punish enemies with fewer escapes or those that use them too early. - Hades fear-ult affects all enemies currently in his ult regardless of the cone. They are dealt the 3 passive-burst damage if they are hit by the cone. This allows him to use his ult to hit multiple people easier and allow him to even work as a massive Danz 2. I think this would be a much better way to balance it and also incentivise smarter play with Hades ult for both players. If you spam your abilities, then you lose the ult value but you still have the abilities available.

You probably won’t. This is meant to be a closed alpha. It’s meant for people who played smite 1 and can give accurate feedback going from 1 game to the other. Having new players in just kinda hurts, cause 9/10 they’re not gonna be able to give good or any feedback at all. They don’t know the gods, items, abilities, or even the map/mode theyre trying to get feedback on
