Why didn’t the pin work in the chronos fight when you lost your first death defiance

The game considers defeating Phase 1 Chronos as the end of an encounter, so if your Pin starts a countdown there and you kill him, it saves your Death Defiance. Make sure to remember that this disables the Pin for the entirety of Phase 2 though.
