A bit random, but I just realized that Hades' children both represent half of his famous phrase "Blood and Darkness." Zag had a lot to do with Blood and Mel seems to have a lot to do with Darkness so far.

The Dora and Pandora connection I did not make. She feels like in the similar situation of Dusa and Medusa. Did we ever get confirmation if Dusa was actually Medusa?

@@GalacticOdyssey Finaly someone who know Chronos the "divinity" of time and Kronos the titan are two different antities, i once mentione this fact on a stream and was insulted by everyone as if i have comited a murder x) anyway i know both entities have been mixed up and often confused so it was not that surprising, but god people dont like having their belief challenged, and wont even try to verify any information who dont goes their way :o so thx for spreading acurate info to the people who care about it :)

​@@noakeyharding9437 think your falling for a fairly common misconception, greek mythology was not the same as greek religion, the mythology was stories using their religion as a base. most people of ancient greece understood the difference between their religion and their myths. They were always stories, and writers of mythology would tell you that making changes like combining Chronos and Kronos was common among these myths. In the Greek religion, yes Chronos and Kronos are different people, but myths rarely followed that religion 1 to 1. Hades 1 and 2 is based on Greek Mythology, not Greek Religion, its based on the stories, not the beliefs, and like any adaptation, it will make some small changes and that should never be seen as bad as long as it makes sense in the context of the adaptation and doenst stray to far away from the source material

I find it interesting that the difference in focus between Zagreus and Melinoe can be seen in their mortal mentors. Martial Zagreus was taught be Achilles, while Melinoe's mentor is wily Odysseus.

Hecate is Melanioe’s mentor, Odysseus came into the bunch later The point still stands though, Hecate is a sorcerer and has a witch circle. She taught Melanoe spells and charms, Melenoe also casts “protection circle” as a spell, she brews incantations, her first weapon of choice (or rather, the weapon that choose her) is a magic staff and Melenoe referred as “witch” throughout the game

@@Elite_Tauren_Chieftain What's even funnier is Odysseus had very minimal time with Melinoe in comparison to Achilles. She spent far more time with Hecate and a slew of other witches, with her training partners being Nemesis of all people, and Artemis. Getting into minor spoiler territory, what's downright hysterical is Artemis and Odysseus tried to teach Melinoe how to fight with a bow. As she has no bow weapon in the game currently, what exactly happened is treated as a bit of a noodle incident with how bad it ended up.

It should be interesting to see more of what the game has to say about her. At the moment, she’s got no knowledge of her past life, and the name “Dora” doesn’t seem to be known to beings like Moros, so it may well not be her full or original name.

One thing about Dora that I've seen other players mention is that pre-Pandora society was described by Hesiod in his Works and Days as a Golden Age. Dora could be Pandora, and who in this game was supposed to have a _Golden_ Age that came to an end?

I'm a little hesitant to pick it up myself just yet. I did enjoy Hades, but not to the point where I'd want to play it again with a switched out story and 1 or 2 new mechanics. Will see, it'll probably get there for me by release if not sooner ^^

Having played it for a few hours now, it still feels very polished, even though it's in Early Access. The voice acting and art is just as good as the first, and the combat actually feels quite distinct since it relies more on ranged casting. I don't think you'll regret getting it!

On the steam page it does say "Hades II in Early Access already has more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original Hades game" and having already put 23 hours into the game and beaten both Chronos and the current overworld end bos its very fun & enjoyable. There's some characters I hadn't even met until maybe 15 hours in.

It's already more than twice the size of the first and feels totally different but still familiar. They've expanded on everything. It's really a lot more than one or two new mechanics, the old ones are also overhauled in very interesting ways. The boon set is almost entirely new, and the weapons, cast, and dash play very differently. You have to be much more deliberate with your control of spacing in this one.

Hey, that's ok! As long as it brings you joy, that's the important part! And the more you read the various stories for fun, the more they'll start to sink in. Because mythology is generally an oral tradition, it's designed to have patterns and mnemonics that will stick with you in the long run. Keep it up!

True, though that is also true for Zagreus. They are still full siblings but both of them are Zeus' children in Greek Mythology. Seems they went a different direction for the games.

So I know In mythology Melinoe was conceived when Zues disguised himself as Hades and slept with Persephone. (So out of character for Zeus I know right. 😛) Who actually knows that she is Zeus's daughter? Zeus obviously knows that he slept with Persephone, but does he know a baby was the result? I'd imagine neither Hades nor Persephone knew or there would be some revenge myths going around. The Fates would have to know since they determine what happens (do they control the fate of gods in mythology?). I was surprised in Hades 1 when they focused on Demeter's aspect of winter instead of nature.

Hi! So, in English, there's actually a phrase we use colloquially which is "to open Pandora's box." It essentially means an action that you take which can cause further problems later. In addition, because of the way myths evolve over time, many artistic depictions during and after the Renaissance period show her opening a box, even though the original recipients of the myth would likely have envisaged a "pithos" or ceramic vase-like container. So, to associate her with a box is both colloquially correct and may in fact be in line with the re-telling of the myth, depending on what time period the recounting comes from. Hope this helps with some of the confusion!

since people already gave explanations for Chronos; Hermes is literally the God of Trade and Travel (among other things), it actually makes a whole lot of sense for him to not be ethnically Greek lol. think of the Silk road and its rich history! it was an essential trade route connecting Europa and Asia, that probably played a part in why they made him Asian specifically.
