Stephanie Mills is so good as Hermes. I think she nails that warmth for Orpheus and her variant of the costume is amazing with the long silver coat!

I was rather disappointed in her Hermes. I loved Andre and Lilias (and Chris at NYTW), but Stephanie was my friend’s first Hermes and we both agreed that she was very…bland and didn’t stand out from the ensemble at all for us. I remember when Andre and Lilias would first step onstage at the top of the show their presence just commanded it, whereas I didn’t even notice when Stephanie stepped out.

​@@willpoost4316 I get that but I think the one character that works for is Hermes. Hermes is the narrator with an affinity for Orpheus like a good aunt. I'm okay with Hermes grounding the story a bit, I think it can give it a bit more seriousness. It's like Hermes becomes the proxy for the audience by playing it a bit more understated / real / less Broadway.

I was gonna say… I was never a HUGE fan of removing the fatherly aspect of Hermes by making it a female role as well, but she completely changed my name. She was absolutely fabulous!
