The beginning of my Hadrians wall coast to coast walk where I am trying to raise £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. After a great start, things soon take a turn for the worse as a rest turns into a problem.

There is a reason you have a quarter of a million followers. You are a master story teller. Its honest. It's not over produced. It doesn't matter if you are cooking, demonstrating a product, or taking a walk. We love it!

Dear Dan: Please do not ask me how I found your channel. I just stumbled on it as I am (was not) interested in metal detecting. However, when I saw that you were at Carlisle I had stop and now I am hooked. My grandparents came from Carlisle and immigrated to Canada before the Great War. I have visited my cousins who still live there (including one who has been the mayor) many times. However, I have not been back in years and it is wonderful to see how the town has changed. Having said all that I just love your videos. You are so funny and upbeat all the time and with your interest in history rather than 'treasure' makes it even more fascinating for me as I am, also a real history buff. Watching your vids has been a real joy for me also as I am recovering from major knee surgery so my garden has gone to pot this spring and probably the summer. A lot of the time I am just stuck resting my leg. Definitely will be making an donation to the McMillan and am eagerly awaiting Day 4 of your trek. Best wishes from British Columbia Canada. PS I must say I haven't laughed as hard in years as I did at the video of the sheep chasing your through the field I have watched it three times!

Your doing great. Don't despair. I can't do what your doing. Not at all. My right leg was amputated Christmas Eve 2013. So to do what your doing would be fantastic. I'll tell you one thing in my dreams I walk and run. Some days I wake up very upbeat you know. Check your feet for blisters and elevate them after each day but you already know that. What your doing is heroic. Keep it up. Good luck and may God bless you.

Dan, if you want to be remembered more than 3 years after you die you should start a rumor that you will be buried with all the loot that you have uncovered over the years. Yep, Dan, will be deep dug up... maybe even by those legal grave robbers masquerading as archeologists.

***** loved every second of it! Well it was hard once we hit Newcastle. I'm from Northumberland so walking along the Quayside knowing I could just walk to the bus station and get the x31 home wasn't easy. The sense of accomplishment once we completed it was amazing! Tbh though mate that walk you did through Scotland looked alot harder than Hadrian's and doing it on your own, that takes some iron will!! Much respect dude!

It was apparent that you were fatigued near the end of the video, Dan. 15 miles is a lot for anyone first day out. The most I've done in a day backpacking up a mountain was 11 miles. But here's how I do it: 5 minutes break every hour, take off shoes , re-hydrate, and eat a energy bar. Try the 5 minute break every hour- it makes long distances easier.

+Deep Digger Dan I correct now. There has been two separate founds this year, first is a grave and a living place in Åland Finland. Second found was a viking money-hide in Kanta-Häme , they found in just two days 330 coins( Flemish, Byzantine...)and there is more to come. Now they are going to make a television program about it. Last year in Pohdonsaari was found a tree-headed eagle-jewel (from Perm Volga it had come somehow to Finland). It is at least 1200 years old, maybe even 1400 years old...
