One thing that always amazes me about players of similar caliber to Hadrien is how relaxed they look when playing lines like that.

Somehow unrelated but not so much, and some 20 years ago, at work, we played to "Quake" on LAN, and in the company there were some really good dudes, the kind of guy doing headshots always with a "railgun" (which is a gun which had a delay), at far distance. Playing against them were punishing. But when you watch them play, they were total relax, sometimes even talking and joking on the side. The usual player was stressful, shouting, trash talking, hitting their mouse when fragged... While the "bests" were totally peaceful and calm while making their opponents intense open "hell gates". When you reach a certain level, you become a master, and you don't have to "think" to do what you want, you just want to stand up and walk, you stand up and walk, you want to play that sequence of note, it happens all by itself, your hands know where they have to go, you don't even have to think to what and when which finger must do its job. In fact, if you start to think, you fall :).

I started listening to him while listening to chick corea and RTF. Then years later he's playing with chick In Vigil. I got extremely happy knowing both are now in a band. Rip Chick Corea. He chose Feraud because he is the only bassist at the time to play in that album perhaps. Adequate enough I guess. My favourite bassist ever.

He literally has a pedal board with at least 5 pedals on it in front of him. The tone was very affected at times. So no this isn't just him and the bass. 1. He has a volume/wah on his board. He definitely had some volume swells. 2. He 100% has pedal compression and is using something else to compression at the amp. His tone is compressed a ton (very common for bassists to do that) 3. He kicked on a chorus effect at one point during the solo. Another very common effect with bassists. 4. Pedal EQ is a given. Basically ever bassist with solos uses one. You can clearly hear him kick it on (or off) when his solo starts. Using effects doesn't make him worse, just to be clear. Effects are there to help create a mood. He created a lovely soundscape.
