First time I’ve actually heard Hadrien speak, seems like he’s a really cool dude. Monstrous player! The speed and accuracy!

I think he actually is quite humble. It's mock bravado. He's making fun of the himself and the artifice of virtuosity and having signature guitars .

I've been a professional bass player for almost 40 years. And, I've NEVER done any of the things this guy can do. He's a BEAST!! But, do NOT get bummed out if you are a new pro bassist!! You don't HAVE to do these things...EVER!!! Lock down the groove. Stay with the click and the drummer. And, listen across the band and react accordingly! PERIOD! .... Hadrian is absolutely AMAZING!! But, very few of us have to do any of that. It's so much more about your POCKET!! .... I'll stop here.

truly one of my favourite musicians today, really a bass giant. what I didn't know is that he is so outrageously funny. hell I love this guy!

Refreshing to hear a virtuoso genius having such humility and a sense of humor! “Very Popular in my home town living with my parents.” The complete opposite of Jaco “I am the greatest bass player in world”! -though not meant to demean the late, great one as everyone around Jaco said great things about him.

Hung out with Hadrien.... You guys have no clue how deep this man is. Hes very much the bass equivalent of Bruce Lee- When you get past his amazing bass playing, you come into his life philosophy which is amazing and so very far beyond the bass.

Really great to see Hadrien's journey with his basses and has a wicked French sense of humour. I reckon he was a joker at school. Amazing chops so effortless. Great video Scott as always and love your sense of humour maybe have a rendition of a new 4 Yorkshire men with basses - you were lucky, I used to lick bass with tongue and live in a hole in the road ....etc

Following McCartney and Jamerson, Hadrien is probably my biggest influence. The first video I saw of him was back years and years ago, him performing Marie Ael with Damien Schmidt on drums, and it was a total eye opener. And seeing how easy he got around on that Burner made me sell up my Fender and hunt one down, a 1991 Custom with quilted maple body, which I then shipped from the US. Hadrien is a player who has consistently improved over and over as the years have passed, and his solos are like mathematical equations that he's putting together and solving at the same time! His solo on that live version of Marching Powder is absolutely astonishing. Hadrien is the best bassist on the planet, its that simple.

That was hilarious. The man has lived the irony of being the world's best bass player... and how being the best often means you can't get a gig. It is absurd and Hadrien accordingly has embraced the absurdity with a wry wit. Something I find amazing is that no matter fast he's playing his finger tips on his plucking hand don't clank against the strings. Somehow he is able to twitch at such a fine level of control that the momentum of his fingers stay constant. I do think he must have a bit of a freak nervous system (and brain) to pull this off.

Interesting that you say that, I also realized that I really cared little for the notes but was fascinated by execution articulation with the hands !
