A 4 cylinder are quicker than a V8. the less cylinders the quicker the engine is :) So the way Hafsengens car is used a 4 Cylinder engine is an adventage :)

+bikr1975 the V8 might have more power, but that doesnt mean it can develop it fast enough, the main difference would be how faster the 4 pistons can eat through 12k rpm vs a v8

The answer is Throttle Respons time and Torque. The 4 cylinder is much faster to get up on the revs so you get the power faster and when you need it, however has much less torque then a V8 or a V6/S6. on lighter cars it is more advantageous to have a small engine with good throttle respons to keep the balance and handling characteristics of the light vehicle, making them realy fast on small/tight tracks with allot of corners
