Satute of limitations had run out on the misdemeanor business charges. Bragg upcharged them using Federal campaign contribution law. NDAs are not illegal. The NC didn't involve a defunct misdemeanor being converted to a felony based on Federal election statutes that the US Govt saw no reason to bother with. It also didn't involve the defense not being told what the actual charges were until closing arguments (prosecution somehow stating the charges after the defense was done), jurors being given a multiple choice list of what to deliberate over, or the Judge being selected rather than randomly selected.
