When i was a boy i used to go around with my dad visiting old junkyards and such. My dad always had car projects going on. Seems like every junkyard had a guy like Snowball. And they liked seeing kids coming around. ALWAYS super friendly. I was too young to appreciate it but i remember one old boy had a 427 SOHC cammer engine. He was trying to sell it to my dad but dad passed on it because he had a 429 SCJ to go in a mustang. We stopped there because the guy had a set of Le Mans nodular iron rods dad needed. I remembered one old boy we used to frequent a lot (he had everything) was extremely hard of hearing. My dad had to talk like he was yelling at the man. Dad told me years later the man was mostly deaf because he was an artilleryman in wwii. He saw action at the Bulge and they laid-on counter fire for so long his hearing never recovered. I could go on and on. I loved listening to those men talk. They were from a different era. Most people would look at them as if they just old country boys, but they are an encyclopedia of knowledge, especially in automotive. Those days are all but gone.

What a lovely story, I love those 60s Ford's, I had two unusual Galaxies back in the 70s. My first was a 66 convertible with a straight 6 and three on a tree. There was no badges on it so I've just assumed it was a Galaxie. I think it may have been imported from Belgium, it was resprayed lime green. My second Galaxie was a 63 RHD convertible with a 352 and a two barrel. Both unusual cars in England. Keep hunting Tom.

Snowball is the real deal and so are you. There are some people on KZbin who try to do what you do and they just don't know cars like you do. It is painful the number of mistakes they make. I saw one guy look at a model A sedan with the soft part of the top off and he says, "Is this a convertable?". I know the people who own the cars snicker up their sleeves at bozos like that. Your videos can't be beat.

Brian - Is it the 4dr or coupe? I live in New England and I dont see very many around, well the 76' boxed out style at least. And the FEW I have seen are usually coupes. It seems senseless to me to have 2drs that are the size of aircraft carriers on that mammoth of a girl. 4drs gives it a more balanced look in my opinion.

There are starting to be significant numbers of people interested in collecting the 1970 land yachts. Finally starting to see the cars feastured in Collectible Automobile and Hemmings Classic Car, much to the chagrin of the muscle car and Tri-Five crowd. @@ralphmenta249 Yes sir, she's a 4 door, she's long... but not very lean, If I remember right she tipped the scales just over 6000 lbs!!! But she rode like a dream!!! You didn't feel every bump in the road and the steering was incredibly soft, you could turn the wheel with a feather ;-) It loved going in a straight line at 60 miles an hour and got reasonably good gas mileage, but, if you pushed it to 70... the secondaries on the 4 barrel carb started opening and I swear you could watch the 40 gallon gas gauge slowly drop... My father dearly loved that car and I wish we would have made the time to get it back into shape... She's in excellent shape and I would love for someone with the time and money could get that queen of the road back on the highway :-) Thank you for your reply, have a Blessed Thanksgiving :-)

The Coupe is a 39 Shell and the chassis has all the old tricks such as corner jacking .In my youth I had a 39 Std Coupe which had also been a stock car and had been returned to the street. i have a pic of it being hill climbed somewhere. There was something about the cart spring geometry which made them very stable on a loose surface and easy to drive sideways, bootleg fashion.

I'm on Social Security & don't have the money to tell time! Body in great shape! Sliding rear window perfect. Needs wax & touching up. 2.3 L 4 cyl., Iron block, aluminum head, 8 plugs 5 spd! BLOWN head gasket between cylinder & outside wall; no oil in water, no water in oil. Sitting about 2 yrs. Move occasionally to prevent flatspots on tires. Handled like a slot car! Have most of repair records somewhere around here. More money than I care to recall. But, I will miss it. Them old Fords didn't bring much money back then is right. My first car was a 1963 Galaxie XL with 352 two barrel and cruise o'matic transmission I bought off my brother in law for $25.00 in 1971 that I used as my auto shop project to overhaul the engine. It had bucket seats and a factory console along with power steering and power brakes. The one factory installed accessory I remember was a rear speaker for the AM only radio that had a reverb on it. Reverb was a kind of delay that made the difference from the front speaker to the rear sound kinda like stereo.

Hello Sir, As you have very accurately described, this gentleman has created his own personal gold mine ! Are these cars, or this gentleman's place listed in your book ? Or would you be willing to let me know the location of the property here ? I am paralyzed from my shoulders down, and with the help of a few great friends, I am able to restore a few very wonderful project cars ! I can't begin to tell you how much I genuinely enjoyed this video ! Thank you !

Pretty great Fords, I had a 390 1964 XL 3x2 barrel , factory spec. order with Borg W 4spd , Buckets reverb , that car was fast for a big car beat a 750 motorbike off the line , very nice to see this takes me back to the 60s when I had mine . you know some of those early muscle cars Dodge , Ford , GM had way loads of power

My first car was a 64 Galaxy 500XL 2- door with a 289, power glide on the floor, bucket seats and no back seat. I paid $50 for it in 1983. Put in a $40 Kraco stereo from Western Auto, and sold the car a month later for $218 (all the cash the guy had on him). I watched this a couple of times looking for my light blue Galaxy out in the field since I’m guessing he’s not too far from Forsyth County, North Carolina where I lived. It certainly wasn’t my favorite car, but it was my first. Great video, great series!

Love the sale price. I once sold a car for 216$ because that's all the money he had. He got even though for me taking his last $. I left the State permanenty the next day to return home and he never changed the title. You guessed it, he ran up about 50 parking tickets and never payed them. 3 years later got I a bill from the friendly county Sheriff for around 2000 and they didn't believe my story. Of course I didn't pay and I believe they are still mad at me.

Out in the Mojave Desert is a place where people race and ride all sorts of bikes and cars, called El Mirage Dry Lake and while out in the sand dunes outside the flat lake bed driving on the small mounds of sand that are more like moguls for snow skiing, we came across a huge tree that had grown through a VW Beetle and had actually lifted the bug about 10 or 15 feet above the ground. It was just the shell, no drivetrain or anything else. But it was a pretty cool sight and that was almost 40 years ago. I bet it's still there. Seeing those old fords with the small trees growing through them reminded me of that Bug.

I love how you jumped it off the solenoid. When the solenoid and starter switch went bad on my 83 Suzuki 750, i swapped in a Ford solenoid and wired it in hot. So all i had to do was put it in run and lay my screwdriver for the choke across the posts...Fired right up every time.

Those two 64 Fords are beauties, but at least half the joy in doing Barn Finds has to be the people that you meet along the way. What a great character Snowball seems to be.

Tom, Diamond geezer, cars and stories. Loving quality over quantity. Tonight, I'm loading my Ford Ka in the supermarket car park ( Peebles in the Scottish Borders. ) it's dark and raining... growl. 1970s? Chevrolet truck, dark blue with white lines. Square double headlights. It growls. Long wheelebase. I look at it. It dies! Flashing lights. Re-ignition, lights and gas... ROARING. Want one of those. 😀😀😀. Regards Stephen.

I Just bought a 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 matching number 289 3 on the tree. I’m the second owner. It was sitting in a yard for 10 years . I put gas in the carb, changed the solenoid, put in a new battery, bleed the brakes, and put fresh gas in it and drove it home for 3800 dollars. The interior is excellent and just needs body work. Doing the restoration myself. Btw I’m 22 years old and always loved car shows and now I finally have a few classic cars.
