When i was a boy i used to go around with my dad visiting old junkyards and such. My dad always had car projects going on. Seems like every junkyard had a guy like Snowball. And they liked seeing kids coming around. ALWAYS super friendly. I was too young to appreciate it but i remember one old boy had a 427 SOHC cammer engine. He was trying to sell it to my dad but dad passed on it because he had a 429 SCJ to go in a mustang. We stopped there because the guy had a set of Le Mans nodular iron rods dad needed. I remembered one old boy we used to frequent a lot (he had everything) was extremely hard of hearing. My dad had to talk like he was yelling at the man. Dad told me years later the man was mostly deaf because he was an artilleryman in wwii. He saw action at the Bulge and they laid-on counter fire for so long his hearing never recovered. I could go on and on. I loved listening to those men talk. They were from a different era. Most people would look at them as if they just old country boys, but they are an encyclopedia of knowledge, especially in automotive. Those days are all but gone.

There was no badges on it so I've just assumed it was a Galaxie. I think it may have been imported from Belgium, it was resprayed lime green. My second Galaxie was a 63 RHD convertible with a 352 and a two barrel. Both unusual cars in England. Keep hunting Tom.

Out in the Mojave Desert is a place where people race and ride all sorts of bikes and cars, called El Mirage Dry Lake and while out in the sand dunes outside the flat lake bed driving on the small mounds of sand that are more like moguls for snow skiing, we came across a huge tree that had grown through a VW Beetle and had actually lifted the bug about 10 or 15 feet above the ground. It was just the shell, no drivetrain or anything else. But it was a pretty cool sight and that was almost 40 years ago. I bet it's still there. Seeing those old fords with the small trees growing through them reminded me of that Bug.

I love how you jumped it off the solenoid. When the solenoid and starter switch went bad on my 83 Suzuki 750, i swapped in a Ford solenoid and wired it in hot. So all i had to do was put it in run and lay my screwdriver for the choke across the posts...Fired right up every time.

Those two 64 Fords are beauties, but at least half the joy in doing Barn Finds has to be the people that you meet along the way. What a great character Snowball seems to be.

My father had a 63 Mercury Monterey 4 door. My father bought it new. I believe it had a 406 Police Interceptor package. 3 speed with overdrive and a posi rear.

Tom, Diamond geezer, cars and stories. Loving quality over quantity. Tonight, I'm loading my Ford Ka in the supermarket car park ( Peebles in the Scottish Borders. ) it's dark and raining... growl. 1970s? Chevrolet truck, dark blue with white lines. Square double headlights. It growls. Long wheelebase. I look at it. It dies! Flashing lights. Re-ignition, lights and gas... ROARING. Want one of those. 😀😀😀. Regards Stephen.

I Just bought a 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 matching number 289 3 on the tree. I’m the second owner. It was sitting in a yard for 10 years . I put gas in the carb, changed the solenoid, put in a new battery, bleed the brakes, and put fresh gas in it and drove it home for 3800 dollars. The interior is excellent and just needs body work. Doing the restoration myself. Btw I’m 22 years old and always loved car shows and now I finally have a few classic cars.
