I mean apart from the '39 Chevy I'd say the other 2 cars he mentioned prices on are a bit much. I'd say the old Ford is worth 'round $2000 and the Chevy Rot wagon $500.

This is super cool! Watched probably 50 episodes of this the last few weeks and always thought it would be cool to see an episode close to home. This one was it! I Absolutely LOVE these videos. They are enlightening and depressing at the same time. The majority of the people say they are going to "fix them up" or want to sell them. ( If someone will do all the paper work) I can see a very high percentage of all the vehicles in all the videos just turning back to iron ore where they sit.

What years were your bugs? I had a '61, two sunroof '62's, a '63, and a '66. And my dad had a '60. My red '62 was my first car. And my other white '62 I decked out like Herbie, 53s, stripes and all.

Tom I’m a car enthusiast and I have a neighbor down by Galveston Texas, actually in San leon Texas, he’s an older man who quiet frankly has a hoarding addiction to many varieties of cars, from old MG models, Jaguars of all ages, Hudson’s, a packard, and studebakers! He’s a real welcoming guy especially if you have car knowledge and if you are ever in Texas he would be an awesome candidate to get some quality film history. I know it’s a long shot but I’ve been watching your barn find series for a very long time and I’d hate to pass on his collection even possibly having a chance to be unveiled by such an awesome and genuine car guru like yourself.

Tom, I made a trip on Amtrac in 85 From Medford, Or. home to Minn. Amtrac didn't follow main highway routes much, so lots of great cross country travel. I saw hundreds of old cars on farms, ranches, and in back yards of small towns across Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota. I always wanted to make it a round trip, and kinda map them all out some how, and drive back car hunting some day..It was on my bucket list, but I got to old to do it. That was a 60 Chevy and pretty sure a Bel Air. The 53 Chevy wagon engine was a 235. 1952 was the last year for the 216’s.

Not true. !953 was the last year.Anything with a stick shift came with a 216. All else were 235's.

@@michaeldavis6556 the side cover on a 216 is much longer (top to bottom) than a 235 and covers the spark plugs. It also has solid lifters. A 235's are hydraulic and the side cover begins below the head. The valve cover on a 216 have two bolts through the top of the cover while a 235 has screws all the way around the outside edge.

my favorite car I ever had was a 54 Chevy sedan... miss it always. My dads favorite old car was a 1952 Oldsmobile with the special steering wheel with the Universe on it... so kool, loved it!

I had a '60 Chevy Biscayne 2-door, three on the tree 6-cyl when in high school and college. The exact same color as in this article. My dad sold it while I was in Vietnam in 1970 for $350 because it was just sitting at our house in Garden Grove CA (kept getting tickets to move it). I would love to get that car and restore it! So many great memories of drive-ins and beach trips in it. Please let me know if it's still available and the contact information (I never thought I would ever see one like it again). Great show Tom, keep them coming. I also have a 1953 Dual-Streak Pontiac Cheiftain that I am restoring.

I drive my mint 69 sting ray coupe when knocking on doors looking for old cars,it always helps me get my foot in the door. Couple weeks ago i found a 1935 Husdson Terraplane coupe in a old building, the condition was amazing all original unbroken glass and all body parts, in the 60s it was a drag car

When something breaks on a vehicle you are better off biting the bullet and repairing it, time and money allowing. It sitting more than 6 months, especially outside, the gremlins really take over. The costs multiply. Tom, this program rocks!!

I drove a Marina Blue 67 SS Chevelle in high school. 1971 - 1973. Of all the cars I've had, I didn't let that one get away. It will be back on the road soon... And that was a 1960 Chevy in the video. My first car ever was a 60 2 door Biscayne...

If your looking for leads, my father has delivered for FedEx for 30 years and has seen every back yard and every road in the Charlotte area. He has the best eye for old cars I know. He surprised me with my first car when I turned 15. A 1977 trans am he found for 1000 bucks in someone's back yard.

with the '53 wagon, as the owner states it is a 'glide car it will have the 235 with hydraulic lifters (Blue Flame), not the 216. price is pretty fair even needing the floors (and very likely many under body supports) thanks for the excellent (as always) episode!

I’ve got a 1953 Ford Customline Fordor that I was going to restore upon retirement. It’s not going to happen now. I’d sell it if there’s anyone interested. Original flathead V8 with manual trans with overdrive. Yes I have the title! No I’m not parting it out, wanting to find somebody who’s into restoration of vintage cars.
