The unboxing and initial checkout of a Haier Serenity Series 6,200 BTU Window Air Conditioner with Ultra Quiet Sound Package model ESAQ406T.
The unit has a rather steep retail price, but is by far the quietest modern air conditioner of this size that I've worked with. As long as it cools well, the reduction in noise is well worth the extra money.

I like the look of that unit for something modern. It does vaguely remind me of a PTAC unit. That is very quiet. Nice to see Sadie again too.

It is the only modern Haier that still looks like a PTAC. Haier back in the early 2000s used to have Windows models that looked like a PTAC though, like the HWR10XC6 for example.

19:40 Agreed that water in the pan causes rust, but I've read that the water and slinger lowers temp or outside coil and lowers head pressures. No water means higher head pressures. Make a choice, rust, or harder working compressor.

The water slinging feature is annoying...takes away from the whole quiet concept of this ac unit.... unfortunate.

Nice quiet air conditioner. I have seen many of these units (specifically haier or haier units branded ge) rust and fail prematurely and I see them tossed out on the curb often. Sometimes the electronics also fail. I am curious to see how long your unit will last with the modifications and hopefully it will last a good amount of years and provide good quiet service. Can’t wait to see the tear down video!

I feel like it has a chance at lasting a while if kept dry, but then again the insanely high pressures of R32 aren't exactly setting up for success.

I have one of these I bought 5 years ago and it still runs great. The one I have has R410a.

This is a nice unit. Love the fact it has a sqirrll cage type axel blower and a separate motor for the condenser. Also love the uniquie shape evaporator coil as well. I am going to home depot shortly to pick up a Toshiba 6000 btu RAC WK06 ac unit. Got it set up for curbside so it can be loaded in car. I paid $ 268 with tax. I am thinking of doing a vid on it. Only thing about your unit is it blows out the top. I prefer front discharge as dont like air blowing ip towards the ceiling. I think the dual motors is what makesthe unit deeper. Quingon compressors are pretty quiet. I think my toshiba i am getting has a GMCC compressor. The R 32 a blows pretty cold. My GE AHP06 blows ice cubes, i feel the R 32 a blows way colder than R 410 A. You has a nice unit. Broad ocean motors are all ball bearing. Now iam considering this unit of yours. I can use a deflector to mske air blow out front. Great video.

This is the first machine I've used with 32 so I can't comment on the performance yet, but the pressures are so much higher than what's reasonable I'm already turned off from it. I like the design of the registers on the top, it prevents recirculation. Too many of the units today don't draft the output away from the evaporator enough.

Honestly might get one of these or the GE branded one if my 8 year old Frigidaire unit doesn’t work this year. There’s a GE branded one with wifi control for a similar price. Like the design, remote, and sounds nice. Seems like its worth the extra money for something like this.

That design reminds me of a PTAC. They generally use separate motors, an evaporator coil shaped like that and the long blower wheel. I actually tried to buy a (used) one of these a while back, and I sent someone to pick it up for me, and when they brought it to me, it was a completely different unit. I was sort of disappointed (more mad because I sort of got scammed). But it was an older R-22 unit, and it did work, and I only spent $25 for it, so I wasn't too incredibly mad.

Yeah I was thinking that too, the design of that long blower wheel and the registers across the top look like a PTAC. I’m impressed with this for something modern.

@@coled5090 Yep. My buddy owns a car lot, and that building has Amana PTAC units from around 2009, and the design is very similar. It is a great design for a smaller window unit, and it seems to preform well, I am sort of impressed as well. Sadly though, It seems that it uses the same cheap motors, controls and materials as most other window units. If it used better quality materials and components, the design has great potential.

@@WalterKnox Broad Ocean motors seem pretty decent, I’ve seen them in some higher end NuTone and Broan vent fans as well as various brands of central ac systems.

@@coled5090 yeah, certainly better than a lot of modern junk. I would still rather see something with serviceable bearings, and a better compressor like a Tecumseh (they still make them right?) although Quingan compressors are okay.

How long has this model been around? I had no idea these could be traced all the way back to the R22 era. I'm impressed with this as well--at least so far. Actual performance on a hot & humid day is still to be determined, as well as longevity. I hope it lasts, the design concept and noise level are exceptional.

Haier's smaller units seem to be decent, as I have a couple that are reaching their 8th year of cooling. Their larger units are trash that don't seem to last long, I've got a 8k unit that's been sitting in my attic because water got into the motor.

For the price of this thing, it would be better off to just get a Midea U inverter or a LG dual inverter. Inverters are the only modern units I buy and have had great results. Thought recently I’ve been lucky enough to upgrade to a mini split.
