My grandmother had the same unit. I think it lasted until the early 2000s. Seeing that just jogged a bunch of memories.

I don't know if window units still come with paper schematics. I've seen them in plastic bags next to the evaporator coil in the front. Often, they'll place them in the electrical connections and switches compartment in the front. Those were extreamly helpful when our central air conditioner died and we needed window units because we bought some units with digital controls that were brain dead from our neighbor on the cheap. The schematics made it easy to wire them up to run without controls. We made some controls with relays and central thermostats later, but we could at least use turn them on to get some immediate cooling in the short term. The two that were brain dead still work to this day twenty years after acquiring the units. Pretty good for condemned junk.
