I just noticed I say, "Beautiful" in reference to brook trout... only about a billion times. Sorry! I can't help it I guess. I hope you guys enjoy this video.

Truly excellent video, with your camera work and editing, I thought I was there myself and I genuinely thank you for that special feeling! Such beautiful scenery and that brookie on the first day, WOW! I honestly thank you for your time and hard work and dedication in sharing these special experiences with us, especially for someone that does not have a chance to fish for brook trout...at least not in Florida! Lol.
@HaightsWanderings4 жыл бұрын
@nutz4all Yeah, I don't think the brookies could live in Florida. :) I am glad you enjoyed it. I put 7 hours on the water that first day but had a lot of hours behind the scenes just getting it set up. It was an adventure for the books.

Not surprised you found one above that beaver dam - those spots can be really really good. Might try casting the very top side of the dam next time before you pull up on top of it, sometimes they hunker right there at the edge of it where the water's deepest. Also, I had luck on spinners here in WI during the catch & release season as early as mid March. Just slow them down a tad, use ones that are a bit smaller.

Nice job guys! No apologies necessary. They are a work of art from their pink dots to the white trimmed fins, they are beautiful! I have a few pics of some I caught in CO. I like to blow up the photos when I show them to people so the can see the pink dots. We flew out there for a short trip and I didn't have a proper fishing rod (fly or conventional). I caught them on a little kiddie Cinderella rod someone left at the lodge. Total blast!! :):) Keep the "beautiful" videos coming!

@jennifer helgren I love the ones that have super orange bellies and white tipped fins. They are my favorite I think! Any pole is good enough - or even handlining works too!

You do a nice job with these... My 11 year old son is watching these with with me and is pumped to get out. Waiting for temps to come up just a bit, but took some practice casts for an hour in a small stream pond so he hopefully won't get hung up so much in the streams. Thanks for not revealing locations; not because I couldn't use the info.. I could. But some things are best discovered on your own, and assume no one else in the world knows what u found.

@Todd Spranger I am glad you and your son find some enjoyment in these videos. I try to keep them engaging for all ages (and totally family friendly too!). I agree - finding spots on your own is magic. It's nice to be told where to go as well... but finding a spot and knowing you discovered it is awesome!

any tips, looking to go up to the up around may with my buddies for one of their birthdays and we're all interested in trout fishing/even salmon if possible around that time. We've gone before but with no luck, due to being there the last week of the season.
@HaightsWanderings3 жыл бұрын
@Bunter M Hey - my biggest suggestion would be to hire a guide for the day. I know almost nothing about salmon fishing up here and my trout adventures are few and far between. Most of my attempts at trout end in 0 fish days. However, occasionally the fish and weather just comes together for a successful day.
@ItzBunter3 жыл бұрын
I was deeply considering the guide route, I’ve caught one trout in my life and that was at a brief stop at traverse city, little baby steelhead, but yes I appreciate the straight forward answer, I can handle walleye bass pike and all that, but I really want to try some fresh out of the river trout! Thank you again, if we go maybe I’ll put together a little video lol my buddies got a decent 4K camera

@@ItzBunter Absolutely good luck! My biggest advice would be to get as far away from civilization as possible. :)

Great video. I have seen some of your others. All good. I missed the opener this year due to the virus. Same guys, 20+ years (northern lower). It's not about the fish. Camaraderie, campfire, same damn jokes every year, home brew, shoot some rounds (prior to the home brew of course), "social fish," and enjoy the fellowship in pursuit of a 9" brook trout. Ya know? It really doesn't get much better. Take care man. Tight lines.

@Sir Winston I am glad you enjoy the videos! I appreciate the comment. It sucks that so many missed out on the opener this year. The struggle has been real. I know exactly what you are talking about - the camaraderie is important!

Nice video! How do you get back to your car from these remote rivers?
@HaightsWanderings4 жыл бұрын

If it 's all about the fish your missing the whole point. I've had some great times when the fish refused to bite. You can chew on lemons or make lemonade it's really what you make it. Great video. We need warm weather.
@HaightsWanderings4 жыл бұрын
@Dan Fen I agree. I sometimes miss the mark and get frustrated with lack of fish on certain days. I then come back to the fact that it's about the adventure and I am happy again. I agree warm weather is neeeeeded!

Nice video, hope I can sling a fly this season in the UP! If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of gun do you carry outdoors? Looking for something to carry fishing and camping. Cheers
@HaightsWanderings4 жыл бұрын
@Sinko Hey, man! I slung a fly for 9 hours and didn't get a bite but it was worth it! As for being armed. Great question. I have never felt the need to be armed - I proceed solo in the woods 100% of the time. I have some tools and a knife - but I don't have any form of protection other than that. I know some that do and some that don't - I guess it's just preference!

@Nick Storey Thanks for asking first, before asking. If that makes sense. However, in respect to the local fishermen I have a strict no name policy. I know a few names here and there wouldn't kill the fisheries but it's the principle of the matter. I hope that makes sense. Tight lines to you!
