@@donchuaydee5673 I think this scene just shows the frustration you feel for not putting in enough work and letting your teammates down. So yeah it defently is complaining afterwards but not the kind Coach Donny meant when he talked about it first (like complaining and blaming it on other outward things). It kinda embodys the "feeling" of the loser side of this episode - the realisation YOU yourself fcked up. In opposite to that Hinatas reaction embodys the feeling of the winner side and those scenes contrast each other even in their positioning. While the girl start to cower down Hinata open ups and stretches his arm upwards in realisation of victory. That is probably jsut overanalysation tho, cause those are natural reactions so these feelings ofc x) but the point still stands Have a potato for reading this 🥔

as a born and raised japanese, we had cleaning time in our schedule after lunch (in my elementary and middle school). Everyone was assigned to go clean everything in school like teacher's staffroom, principal's office, bathrooms, gym, classrooms etc. I didn't know schools in North America had janitors until I moved when I was 18. I think Japanese schools were too cheap to hire janitors on their budget so they got students to do it for free. LOL
@Nofian-s1g4 жыл бұрын
I think most of Asia countries do that. Indonesia also does that too. Having schedules for when a group of students need to clean the classroom (or become the "janitors" of the day for that class). Then every once a week, we did a big cleaning, like cleaning the whole school, the yard the teacher's office the bathroom everything. We also have janitors, but not that many, my middle and high schools only have 1. I think Japan is the same, because we use the japanese-like education here (cuz colonization).

I saw a comment on reddit that the studio purposely changed the art style on the newer season (and ova) and reduced the fluidity of animations in the episodes to fit budget to make room for a new season once source material has enough chapters in it. Plus the hype train for haikyuu is really big and many people support the anime, so it would be really unwise if they stop on season 4.

When Iwaizumi did not make the point at the end of season 2 he slapped his back removing all his regrets, he even waited for Iwaizumi before thanking the supporters. He believes in all his teammates and all his teammates believe in him. He has that facade that makes him childish, that makes him less charismatic than Iwaizumi, that's probably why you think Iwaizumi would be a better one. But I don't see how could he be. probably Daichi and Kita, even if are not that alike, are the representation of the best captain, Oikawa still is a solid one. Iwaizumi is just cool and a hard worker but he lacks communication skills, has not the same analyzing skill and sense of the game as oikawa. Anyways i think that Seijou strenght is in all his third years students, they complete each other, making a really solid base for the newer players.

That episode is always one of my favourite, specifically the first half. I never played volleyball, but i was always a very competitive kid who played other sports and such. Unfortunately despite wanting work hard, ive never been the most talented player so i was often a part of programs that just didnt have the same drive to win as i did, and this episode is so good at capturing that really crushing feeling you get when you lose against a team who you know worked harder and deserved to move on. I also really appreciate the way this episode puts in perspective these tournaments. Everyone here is fighting to keep playing because the moment you stop fighting, you are kicked out. Because Karasuno are the protagonists its easy to see the teams the defeat as just hurdles on the way to victory, but this episode reminds the audience that everyone is the protagonist of their own story. Also dont worry about trying to remember the chant lol, they definitely play it enough that its honestly harder to forget. (same goes with a lot of the future teams)

Well, I feel like Iwaizumi would've been a better captain since he's way more mature, but I think he's fit to be captain. He isn't captain because he's the best player, he's the captain for a reason.

Ya'll more than anything, coach's analytical review on the player's play/positions/habits makes me feel giddy. I love how someone looks at the anime in a practical manner. Most of us just sees the episode and the characters, but having someone explain the anime in a deeper detail makes me excited and that's why I really love coach's reviews

This episode is amazing. Every sports story needs that first “easy” game to show us how well the boys have grown but by having the story focus on the losers and their perspective, the show gets to give us a little something extra...

In Japan, cleaning one's own classroom and school is a part of their school education. The "chores" they have responsability over vary from grade to grade, for example first graders normally clean and maintain their classrooms, serve lunch to their classmates and might even clean the toiletes, last one depending on the school, while high schoolers will do all of the above and some more like cleaning up the gym and club rooms after each practice. Though is not mandatory by the government, it's considered a standard practice that allows the students to grow up as more responsible citizens. It's one of the reasons why there's rarely any littering in Japan and why "cleaning scenes" are common in high school life related anime.

I played rugby at highschool and our team was always in second place (always losing to the same team). But in my last tournament we managed to win the first place. I remember that me and my friend (the only ones that left from the first team of the school) were hugging, crying and screaming, it's impossible to describe that feeling.

Did you guys notice how some of the scenes shows the point of view of the team that is losing? It's a great storytelling of how losing feels. Not that it's bad to lose but it shows that losing is just a part of the game.

I LOVE that "If all this were a work of fiction the guys who go to nationals would be the protagonists, and the rest of us would just be extras. But, regardless, we got to play volleyball." because there are no secondary characters in Haiykuu. They're all important, and they all have their own story to tell, with their strenghts and their weaknesses. I love this anime so much :)))

Haikyuu is a really amazing slow burn story. There are lots and lots of foreshadowing you might complain & probably won't realize now, that would make suuuper great pay off in the future, which make your 1454775th rewatch/reread of this series worth it. One of the reason why watching thousands of reactions vids like this enjoyable really. Like season 1 is so so SO good already but it's regarded by many as Haikyuu's weakest season if ones were to rank the seasons, bc this is just the beginning & a setup for everyone journeys so I'm really excited going into this journey again with you especially bc of your amazing insights that I might miss on my rewatch/reread before, so thank you :))

This has got to be one of the best episodes in the entire series! The way that the Furudate sensei makes use of what would usually be called a "side character" and yet make them be the star and feel like they were the protagonist isn't easy to achieve and many of us remember all of the opponents that Karasuno and even other "main" teams have because of the way sensei has highlighted them well enough, not too much but not too little. It always astounds me that he makes us care about the loss to people we meet even in an episode or two. I get why Oikawa might not be considered a good captain but I hope coach will see how good he is in the upcoming episodes! But, even if he doesn't I like that coach still acknowledges that Oikawa is a good player!

Currently the author has completed Hiakyuu!! and is working on Haikyuu-bu!! which is written from the perspective of the rival schools like Nekoma and some others you haven't met yet. I'm so itching for a sequel though! Also in Japanese schools there are no janitors, all students are expected to all pitch in to help keep the school clean. I'm not from Japan but I would assume that this goes for cleaning up in clubs too.

This is one of my favorite episodes from season 1. It shows how you make a side character shine, no need for super power or special skills, just something that touches you, something we all can relate, something, so real. He doesn't have an amazing performance, his high school volleyball life ends right here right this moment, not even a win in regional games, yet he had his own moment, the moment where he didn't give up a single point, the moment he fought till the end. And finally, we go back to the title of the episode, winners and Losers. Volleyball is about everyone who loves it, be it winners or losers, they all loved volleyball. "Haikyuu" exactly means "volleyball" in Japanese. Haikyuu is not just a story about the protagonists, it's a story about volleyball, about everyone who loves volleyball, this episode shows exactly that. So beautiful.

When you said, "Being the best player has nothing to do with being a good leader", it hit me in the feels a bit. My table tennis coach in high school picked me to be captain, even though I was nowhere near a good player. I used to be confused as to why I was leading a team of people so much better than I was, and it only took after she passed away for me to realise what she saw in me. Thank you for highlighting this in the video.
