I like how Haikyuu in the early parts of the story says certain things that they use to describe the players' growth over the span of the series. Hinata's thirst for growth, love for volleyball, and strong positive competitive spirit for both teammates and opponents alike are the biggest reasons for why he improves so quickly over a short time span. The moments where he seems like he's performing a "fluke" will be moments where he goes through growth. Also, the story does an interesting thing where the teams are represented by animals that are in the schools' names, and the teams have traits that you'd expect from those animals. Karasuno is an interesting team, because the first years are new and full of raw potential, and they have stable/reliable upperclassmen. Combined with the carnivorous trait that crows have and the fact that crows will even eat from trash - this embodies Karasuno's style of taking in anything they can get ahold of to become better players, even tactics they have learned from other teams.

Probably the best Haikyuu Reaction out there. Because it's more than that. A different perspective is great for people who are not familiar with the whole Volleyball or any competitive sport atmosphere. Where someone might think these kids were overreacting and over-emotional, Coach Donny's analysis just sets everything down to earth and we understand Haikyuu a bit better every single time. Keep up these videos, coach.

Fun fact for coach about haikyuu!: Japan saw a steep increase in number of enrollments in high school volleyball, as opposed to decreasing numbers before that. Please upvote this so coach can read this.

Recently of all the new volleyball players/couches who started reacting to Haikyuu, this person is only one who is genuine about it. Not like "I just have to go through 24 min, and money will come automatically."

I agree so much with your perspective at the end about how the perspectives and thoughts from so many different types of people from coaches, to players with different levels of motivation, to spectators is what really makes this series so special. I think the author does a great job making viewers connect with so many different characters and it is easy to overlook but that effort he puts in really makes the series stand out!

I love all the parallels you give to real life volleyball and would love more clips showing you or other professionals showcasing the Haikyuu plays!

characters like tsukki are usually my favorites from a storytelling perspective because there's so much opportunity to see those kinds of characters grow and evolve. i always end up cheering for them to grow into something greater. shows/media that don't allow those growths are really shooting themselves in the foot.

haha yeah. what makes a great setter and a great captain are still 2 different things, shouldn't confuse the two, just saying.

I like how you highlighted how Haikyuu! provides the perspective of not only the players but of the spectators, coaches, locals, etc. This is one of the reasons that I love Haikyuu! because it shows the importance that all of these groups have on the game and the playing environment, and furthermore, because Furudate-sensei uses these groups to illustrate important aspects of the game (which will only continue later). I'm also low-key jealous too. When I played volleyball, it was like pulling teeth to get anyone (even the parents of our players) to come to games. My mom was always there and always supportive of me and my younger sister, but I was often saddened when some of my teammates had no one to support them. It makes a difference when you know people support you.

I dont know if other viewers already told coach donny about it but soon a new volleyball anime will start. The name of the new anime is "2.43 Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club" maybe he wants to react to that anime as well so I thought i should share it, have a nice day everyone!

One of my favorite parts of Haikyuu! is that they make (almost) all of the teams likable and you can't help but to root for them. Karasuno being the underdog in tournaments, Dateko's catchy cheer, Nekoma's teamwork, Aoba Johsai...being a good opponent. Can't wait for Coach Donny to meet all the other teams and to hear his favorite.

Episode 6 of trying to show Coach Donny this! Hey Coach, since you've been sharp in pointing out all the asics shoes in the anime you're probably wondering why they are not mentioning the brand, not even in a rip-off shape (like some animes will sometime have a WacDonald instead of McDonald's). So here is why! You may have noticed that for examples the Karasuno jersey has a little foot-shaped logo with "ics" written below. In japanese foot (足) is pronounced "ashi" which can be typed on a japanese keyboard by pressing the button A - S - I. Which combined with the following letters ("ics") gives us: "ASHI"-"ICS" or Asics

24:18 I love hearing Coach's reaction to this quick. One of my faves in the 1st season. To me what was impressive about this play was everything Coach Donny said, plus the fact that the set had to be backwards with an upside down view from Kageyama's perspective. 🤯🤯🤯 He is a genius for real And Kageyama is happiest when the team is doing well. Volleyball is his passion in life. So this is where you will see him smile the most 🥰😁

Most captains usually wear #1 jerseys to represent their captaincy and the older their team members, the lower their number tags they'll get.

What I like the most about Coach Donny besides him being calm and all these genuine reaction is that HE ALWAYS, ALWAYS, IN ALMOST EVERY EPISODE HE GOES NOTICES SOMETHING ABOUT THE ANIMATIONS THAT I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I WATCHED HAIKYUU. Just like here at 27:50, even just that random strand oh my gosh. Keep up the great work Coach! So much appreciation!

Marouf Said is fantastic. He's toying with ball like nobody's business. Watching him set, so effortlessly and so cheerfully really makes him stand out with his tosses. One of the best setters I have ever had pleasure to watch. Go watch his tosses, you won't regret it. Coach Donny saying about show-offs. Me, laughing, because one of my characters is exactly like that. Well, it's going to get even more intense, Coach. And I am sure you will love it. :) I have a constant banana on my face when you explain so much to those, who are not into VB or do not know about VB as much. Now people will know how great it feels to watch Haikyuu!! with this knowledge, how much more it adds to the fun of watching this anime. Ne no eyebrow guy is Aone. But "No Eyebrows" works, too. Just like K-pop :D

What I appreciate the most is how you can draw parallels from haikyuu teams and strategies and explain how/which teams in the real world use them! For those of us who aren't as involved in keeping up with the volleyball community, it's really helpful and makes the anime feel even more grounded.

One thing I love about Haikyuu is the extreme detail the animators put into the show. They have such extreme precision, even in little things people wouldn't care to notice. One of my personal favorites is that whenever Coach Ukai is on the court, he takes his earrings off and you can see the piercing holes (:
