Oh and that bratty Princess that the Emperor married off and she blamed Ruyi. Whatever happens to her? Now Ruyi arranged for the arsenic at the Cold Palace and Hailan put some kind of brown powder in her medicine but who is putting Cinnabar in the charcoal? Is Hailan getting that done and A'Ruo gets the blame, like a bonus? What a snake pit!! Serpents and scorpions abound. Wow.

That's how things went back in the day. Is trample or be trampled. Either you strike first or you're dead. Dramas can be beautiful but the reality was even worse than what is shown. So many concubines/empresses/queens died, not to mention the innocent kids that didn't harm anyone but the rivals in the harem. Power was everything to them. And in this dorama they don't mention much of the political schemes... Officials may be banned from the harem but they managed to somehow have some kind of influence in it. Likewise, concubines, queens and queen mothers also had a part in the political sphere.
