I’ve read over 143 books this year which is crazy to me, most of the books I’ve read this year have been amazing but I’ve read some pretty terrible books this year too. I’ve never read this many books, so I’m super proud of myself.

The whole “short story collection in the middle of series” thing is def not just you! I don’t necessarily dislike them but I hate when they are essential to understanding and enjoying the series.

I was the same last year. Overall I just had a very meh year in reading despite reading so many books. This year I am doing better, I have found three new favourites with Night Theatre by Vikram Paralkar being my top book so far this year, I have found some gems and gotten into reading Rhonda Parrish's anthologies (my favourite edited by her is Fae so far with Air: Sylphs, Spirits, and Swan Maidens as a second). I am reading ebooks and borrowed books as planned. I am also, even though I was planning on taking it easy this year and even set myself a 52 book goal which is about half what I usually set, I have read over 80 books at this stage. So there is also that. I will say I am at the moment focused on either borrowing or reading books that have previously been on my tbr instead of looking into new releases. I know very little of the books coming out this year, because I am at the moment not especially interested in reading them.

Since you love Titanic stories so much, I really reccomens "Unsinkbable" By Lotte van den Noord. It's a book translated from the Netherlands. It's about a theory that the Titanic was always doomed to sink. I really enjoyed it and I think you might enjoy it too since it's about the Titanic!

I think a lot of your favourite (stand out) books of the year are historical fiction so you haven't hit fall when you read most of those. I'm betting that's why you haven't found a favourite so far. The Great Alone is my favourite so far and is historical fiction so I feel that.

I don't know if this is snobbish, but what I do if I'm interested in a book is to read a preview of it online, mostly on Amazon, to find out if it's worth getting it or not. Maybe that could help you decide to get a book or not if you're unsure

I also don’t like short stories that add to the main series. The Expanse did that. In one of the books, Amos mentions The Churn. Not much explanation. Then I read the short story featuring The Churn. It definitely made things fall into place but all I could think was, why didn’t you at least provide a few short sentences in the book to explain this? Why are you making me read a short story to get an explanation of Amos’ cryptic comment?

I've also picked two books as my best book of the year - ''When You Were Everything'' by Ashley Woodfolk (I wrote her on Instagram about this and she actually replied. bless her wonderful soul) and ''We Can't Keep Meeting Like This'' by Rachel Lynn Solomon. These books were in your videos and otherwise I wouldn't have known these existed lol - so thank you for that! Really glad that I've discovered your channel and I hope there are some gems that you'll read in the next few months!
