I've been an oldies fan for 35 years, and only recently discovered how talented and versatile this group is/was. Unfortunately, only Bob, Paul, and Susan are still performing regularly as the Cowsills (John's the Beach Boys' drummer), and Bill and Barry are gone. But they are really something. Also, I love how they added a verse from the broadway show in this rendition which they did not use on the hit record.

This song is bittersweet for me. I was about 10 years old when this song came out. The hippie look was all the rage. Psychedellic colors, fringed vests and purses. It was a fun time. Hippie Power was what America needed in the late Sixties. Young people wanted to unite and be heard. A lot of great songs that will always touch my heart. Ahhhh....to be young.

Because they are. It's their message, their words, their (my) time. Having said that, 'my time' is just that, my time. What I mean is, here, when it first happened, it was our time', it was the first time it happened. NOW, people, it's "Your Time". Not mine, that happened way back when, YOU, are now YOU, not US, we did our bit, we tried, did our best. Now it's your turn, do not let us down?, - NO!,- DON'T LET YOURSELVES DOWN!.

I remember this tune, in the early spring of 1970. I was a lad of nine, in the third grade, and my father always gave me "crew cuts." I envied those who were allowed to wear their hair long. Well, I got my wish. Twenty years ago, my hair was so long, I could reach behind my back and touch it. It is still long, but not that long. Those were the days!

MP, my wife had the same experience as you due to chemo. At first she was alarmed, but after awhile she got used to it. Months later she said that after her hair started to come back in she would still shave it bald as it was a lot less trouble that way. Well, it's been three years since chemo, and she did let her hair grow back. Maybe this song is what inspired her to keep it, lol.

Nesta Abbott Hi! It was Susan, Paul, and Bob at the WI state fair. Bob was on lead on the right end, Paul was in the middle, and Susan on the left. Thanks for your comment. I am still reeling from meeting them as I am loving watching all their performances and interviews on YT. Susan didn't say anything, Paul did all the talking...and don't ask me what he said...I was kind of freaking! I am so impressed with their talents, spirit, and professionalism. I was born in '63, so I wasn't too aware of much when they were popular, although my siblings are all 10-15 years older than me. My oldest brother has been a singer in bands as long as I can remember. I remember seeing him open up for Bobby Sherman in 1970 at Summerfest. And another brother and sister are singer songwriter performers. Plus they were all "hippies" at UW Madison when I was little. So I'm definitely feeling a bit of a kinship with the family. Susan is only 4 years older than me...and she blows me away too with her dancing, singing, and stage presence. And you being the youngest with 5 older brothers kind of know what I mean too. Two of the 6 in the band have passed...Billy, the oldest died of cancer (I believe) and Barry was lost in Hurricane Katrina. Very sad! Richard, who was never in the band, also died from cancer (I believe). So these three still perform as The Cowsills, and little adorable brother John, who is a super talented drummer and singer, has been performing with the Beach Boys for something like 10 years. I was also lucky to see him at a couple state fairs. Anyway, get on YT and have a blast reliving their past. I love the TV special they did. I think I might have watched it when I was little...I hope so! I hope your hips feel better. Maureen
