This is probably the best explanation for xgen clumping on the internet right now. Well done! I'm always trying to grab little extra tips on this since like you said the logic is the most important part of grooming and its complex. There are a number of instructors on flipped normals, I'm curious who is actually talking here and do you have a link to your work. Its helpful for viewers to see what you are able to achieve with this knowledge.

when I try to hit save it gives me an error message saying "no clump guides found." why?

Good video, I personally despise Xgen. I tried it with a project 2 years ago, and let's just say it's weird, its buggy, you cant (Ctrl Z), crashed a lot. I changed to Ornatrix, yes it's expensive but what software isn't? Theres no naming conventions you have to worry about, you can (Ctrl Z) and its procedural by stacking nodes on top of nodes to get the desired hair effect. I'm not shitting on io I just didn't have the best first time with it.

XGen can be tricky for sure and there are a lot of pain-points you'll run into the first few times without a proper teacher to guide you. In the full course we try our best to guide you around the common problems and bugs and teach you how to solve them to avoid a frustrating experience. Once you know how to navigate XGen's quirks, it becomes an insanely powerful tool for hair and fur :)

@@seanakima50515e tbh modern xgen is buggy but you can undo , stack modifiers, groom. Only issue I have is that it requires everything to be organised so neat otherwise xgen will break

Is there a reason why the teacher is using the classic xgen over interactive grooming ?
@MikeCauchiArt3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude! I used xgen core simply because it is still the most popular grooming tool. Xgen interactive is a very different tool in a lot of subtle ways, I figured I'd teach people the most used version :)

Nice I have a question How to randomize the clumping2 length
@MikeCauchiArt3 жыл бұрын
The the Clumping2 modifier you can find a "cut" attribute. Just add a value there and that will vary the length per clump (I personally dont use this very often though!)
