I completely fell off the wagon at Thanksgiving. I had mashed potatoes AND pecan pie. Do I feel guilt..YES. But in a way I do not, because now I know how much better I really felt not eating carbs. Have some nice keto recipes that you can indulge in the holidays so that you don't fall completely off the rails. No crust cheesecake is the easiest. Sweet soufflés are also luscious and nice (try to use as little sugar substitute as possible). I recommend Chris Cooking Nashville mashed faux potatoes as a treat. These recipes tend to have dairy which can be inflammatory, but it's better than straight sugar and flour

A great way to grow hair & nails is using beef gelatin powder unflavored in your coffee or tea. This works wonders!! Using beef gelatin was very very popular to grow hair & nails prior to the 1980s especially in the early 1900's and before. You can buy Beef Gelatin at most grocery stores & wall mart in the jello section usually on the very top shelf for $4.90 that is in a bag and last a good amount of time. The individual packages in a box are a little more expensive but, the bag is a much better price. If you are Keto/carnivore you can add the beef gelatin to heated sugar free coconut milk, then pour into a Pyrex dish etc, place in the frig for a few hours and you have a nice Asian coconut dessert (cant remember the name) that will make your hair & nails grow. Dr Berg has a vd on the benfits of beef gelatin and you can find this coconut dessert vds from asia also. I sometimes add berries on top of this coconut milk (which is high in fat & I believe it's no carbs but check the can). With coconut milk READ THE LABLES some are not keto friendly at all as they have a ton of added sugar. Trader joes as a clean one organic coconut milk that is around $2.50 (??) worth the money. This coconut dessert takes less then 5 mins to make.

It makes sense, my Mom and decided to start carnivore cold turkey on September 2023 because she was having excruciating pain in her back and no pain killers or medication helped. We started losing weight (water, inflammation) right away and lost 15lbs the first week and pain gone. But we noticed we started losing large quantities of hair, but at this time we were dealing with my Dad being hospitalized and his passing two months later and along with this family troubles. We had to cut with toxic people in our lives and few months later the stress levels went down and now we can say, our hair and stress levels are better. But also we are not eating enough fat, protein because we stopped losing weight!

I lost a lot of hair during menopause, as well as experienced weight gain, edema, and blood sugar problems…all that was before I went carnivore. Carnivore fixed all those things right away, except the thin hair. I thought, well okay maybe it can’t solve everything. But 1.5 years in I started to notice a ton of new hair growth all over my head. I couldn’t believe it. I suspect my hormones or thyroid just needed a longer period of nourishment in order to recover.

Eeks, I started carnivore two weeks ago for autoimmune issues. I have been through so much, including menopause, Dry Eye issues, hair loss, and now mysterious joint and muscle pain. This is why I've decided to take the plunge and try carnivore, hoping that with that and God's help in prayer and faith, all of these things will go away significantly. But I have recently gotten most of my hair back balancing my hormones and thyroid the best that I can, and finally resorting to minoxidil (which worked!) after finding that wearing a wig in Florida was WAY too hot! I was having leg cramps that I got under control too (with absorbable B vitamins and magnesium). I sure hope I won't have to battle those two issues again on carnivore. 🙏

Great info lady’s, thank you. Kelly you’re always so positive and have helped me a lot. Two year carnivore here, unfortunately my hair damage and hair loss is the only thing that carnivore has not helped me with. So much healing of many other issues I had though so absolutely no complaints. I can not see myself ever giving up my animal based keto/carnivore lifestyle. I hope the carnivore community is not put off by alternative hair, because this is going to have to be my direction. I can no longer keep spraying root powder on my scalp, strategically parting my hair and wearing a 🧢 everyday. So now I’m a carnivore wig wearer and I started a channel to review wigs 😊

I do try to eat for my hunger, some days that’s two meals some days it’s 3-4, but when I counted calories, it may not be enough. I also have been going through perimenopause, have always had a terrible sleep schedule, an OVER active thyroid, and have had to have an emergency appendectomy that is taking longer to recover from than I would’ve thought. All stressors! Thank you ladies!!

Never even considered that my d3 supplement could have unhealthy oils....so I went to my cupboard before this even finished to check. I use CanPrev and all the ingredients are NOT even listed on the bottle. I went to the CanPrev website which is very thorough and so my carrier oil in the 2500Iu is coconut oil but oddly enough the 1000Iu is a slightly different formula on the CanPrev website and I found this astounding... soy is how the d3 is made in the 1000Iu formula. I had been thinning for the past 10 years, no stressors and no major weight loss. I have been eating carnivorish for 6 1/2 years...the last 2 months I have improved hair growth and three things changed in the last 6 months.....1)added iodine. 2) upped my testosterone 3)added biotin. Now which of the 3 contributed most, I have no idea. Perhaps a combination of the three but I can say two things.....less hair in the bathtub drain and many new baby hairs along my forehead. Great podcast, thank-you both!

I live in Canada so our brands differ from the US or elsewhere, but I'm happy to say I've found a Canadian made K2 + D3 supplement that doesn't include any undesirable oils. As far as hair loss, my hair has thinned out much due to stress, so trying my best to manage that. I've also started taking iodine about 2 months ago. At this time, I'm losing less hair and wonder if taking iodine is the reason. I also have hypothyroidism and have been taking Synthroid for some 40 odd years.

I've been loosing my hair for 25 years. I wear wigs (I'm a 45 yr old lady, so it sucks, but wigs are a ton of fun. I just wish it was for fun, not to cover my sad thin hair). Thanks for this video. It's inspiring me to be more strict on sticking to carnivore and so many other healthy habits. Hair loss doesn't run in my family. I think I was the perfect storm for hair loss. I was a happy, but super stressed out all my life, and lack of sleep. Then too much sugar in my diet plus I didn't know i had food sensitivities for gluten, dairy, eggs and night shades which causes inflammation. In my 20's I was put on thyroid meds. Carnivore does help with a lot of these things. Like i can't believe how much better my mood is with high fat carnivore. I think it's helping my hair too, but i need to stick to it and not sure if it can reduce 25 years or more years of damages.

For me - not more calories and not more protein and not more micronutrients - the fat is the key for me. And zero carbs. Per research from Don Layman - protein researcher (via Dr. Eades' newsletter), muscle protein synthesis (MPS) is maximized for those 65 and older with 60 grams of protein (5 g of leucine). Also per Layman, it is better to front load your protein in the morning for MPS rather than later in the day.

I noticed that, when I started carnivore, I automatically ate less. I realized that this would NOT help, especially since my metabolism was so low that eating even less - well, I could see where that would lead. So, I backed up and decided to adopt carnivore at a slower pace because it simply took awhile to be able to eat enough in a meal when the focus was on animal food alone. (When I started I could only manage to eat 4 oz. of beef at a time without feeling overfull. I can now have 8 oz. and feel good.) As for my hair, it’s improving. With the increase in calories, my hair is growing faster. Is it thicker - no, I don’t think so. It has thinned over the last 30 years since menopause so if it has thickened, I haven’t yet noticed. (Wish menopause had affected my hair like it did my mom’s. Hers became coarser she lost it. Mine became baby fine so any loss was really noticeable. 😢)

No need to wait. You can move slowly into carnivore and you will be benefiting. Just add significant fatty meat, eggs, seafood to each of your meals and snacks. Slowly move to more and more of that and less of anything else. Cut all sugars out immediately. In the beginning I need lots of fat to compensate emotionally for no longer having sugar. That helps me a lot. You can do it now. 😊
