My hair loss started in junior high. Disguising it stole a big part of my life -- arranging my hair just so, avoiding windy days, avoiding water, always looking like some sort of prude because of my uptight strategically placed hair. I went through the wig thing until I moved to Florida which made them impossible to tolerate, even after buzzing for the first time. Wigs are so confounding! Am I supposed to wear the stupid thing under my motorcycle helmet? Finally, after a lifetime of being hair-whipped, I stepped into freedom at 60 by letting my buzzed nearly bald head fly. It's perfectly comfortable and I get many compliments which never happened with the god-awful expensive wigs. At 68 I don't judge myself for my doomed efforts to look normal, nor do I feel self-pity for belonging to a somewhat small tribe. You are helping so many women with your videos. Thank you!

I think you look cool with out the hair, but I can sympathize with the pain because it wasn’t your choice. Loved your message!

You dear woman . . . you could say this about so many things in life. I'm 62 and although I have decent hair, I had a major loss in my life and have never recovered from it. Years and years of grief. Your words are wise.

It will never take away the pain and years but your message ‘live your best life’ is a message that applies to everyone. Everyday we or read of someone who has died young, developed cancer, etc. we need to live in the now. Whatever our now may be. Much gratitude to you Y for teaching us gratitude. 🙏

On a hair for women channel, I found life changing advice for men and women. Thank you. And you look like you are in your late 20s or early 30s. Not 46 at all.

Ignore the audience. After shaving my head (just to a 1/2 inch) my sister (who according to my 3 bald brothers and I agree. As the first born she got ALL the hair. It’s crazy thick.) this sister said to me that “you still have lots of hair. And the reason she thought that is because it’s only 1/8-1/4 inch long. She does not understand that it will only grow 1/2 to 1inch long. And the hairs next to it will grow less. The crazy sparse growth was the reason we all shave it down to the nubs. Because those beautiful curly locks are never growing back. I used to spend a fortune on gels and serums to make them hydrated, lush and springy. My nape does grow somewhat thick and curly hair and if I forget to clip it it is curly like a fetal lamb and my 93 year old mother will caress it and remember my beautiful curls. It sucks. It fucking really sucks. Wigs help to mask my sadness but I have yet to find one that replicates my curls. My wigs give me hair, but it’s not my hair.

I know you miss your hair like i do I also miss my long locks i have a big patch of bald on the top right now and I hate it because it looks so ugly and that hair is never gonna grow back to its original state but here’s some highlights of being bald from a girl who has been bald and will be bald forever eventually it helps when giving noggin to your partner you barley have to brush your hair don’t have to spend money on hair products I’m lucky though because for the most part ive been the tomboy or the emo girl who keeps her hair short but of course right when I become the uptight business woman who takes pride in her long hair it all falls starts falling out 😢

And then like I can’t just switch back to being a punk girl I’m almost 40 now I’m not like how I was before a girl that dresses slutty and is dirty and rides motorcycles strips for work wears heavy eyeshadow shaves her head / keeps her hair short and walks out the house regularly in only a bra and panties uses her body as the only form to get what they want i still have my old bras because my rule with clothes is I wear them until they stop fitting me but I actually have more self respect now
