I suddenly have a lot more respect for my mother. She properly permed her own hair, step by step, perfectly executed, every six months for as long as I can remember, and she followed all your rules. I never knew how skilled she actually was until now.
@shaunettecoakley39535 жыл бұрын
You ain't alone sis I thought the same thing, but instead of perming my hair every six months she would have to just relax it. I thought the two processes was the same but she told me it was different. It wasnt for waves either it was just to straighten it. My hair is natural now and she joined me as well and she is really skilled with this like oh my gawd.
@LuLuRevenge65 жыл бұрын
I KNOW! I just realized how complicated this is, and my mom has been doing people's perms for years perfectly and she's not even skilled or trained, her home made haircuts are horrible, but the perms though! And she was doing in since te 80s/90s, damn, whole new level of respect right there

Omg you ain't lyin! I grew up watching my great aunt perm my grandma's hair on a regular basis... it was always on point, exactly perfect, every time. It was like a whole family get together lol we'd all eat and laugh sitting around the kitchen drinking coffee watching them do hair for hours.. I miss those days.. I thought every one permed hair that easily and perfectly lol

I had a consultation today with a perm specialist. I live in Florida. My sister has her own salon in Delaware. She highlighted my hair last time I had it done in July. She does a bunch of perms because back in the 90's they were very popular. Most of the younger hair stylists do not know what they are doing when it comes to perms. They are fantastic with color. I found an actual perm specialist. I called my sister during my consultation and they talked to each other about the color used on my hair, hair type, rods, and different brands of perms. I am getting my perm tomorrow and I know that I will be in great hands after my consult today. I am 49. I haven't had a perm since the 90's. LOL I'm excited.

I just started a process at my local hair salon to have an end plan to get my hair permed... to be told it won't be possible... I used spat ombre hair dye in my hair back in November and haven't done anything with it since, because they dyes (4 different colors) are still still in my hair... after my hair was washed and cut... they noticed my hair had a lot of damage (dried out and looked very unhealthy)... so I went back so they could do a treatment in my hair (never removing the hair dye I have still)... I was suppose to go back 2 more times next would be the perm and then a dye back to my natural hair color...she told me since I used splat I hair wouldn't be able to be permed... and for her to dye it, she's going to have to use a special technique to get the brown and light brown look I'm looking for. What or is there anything I can do to get the perm I want for my hair? She strained test my hair today before washing and treating it. The dye did come out, but my hair was brittle and just felt apart. PLEASE, I NEED SOME ADVICE!!!

This is one of the things I HATE hearing from people who have straight hair. "Oh my god your hair is just naturally like that? I bet you don't have to do anything to it in the morning!" Meanwhile my ass waking up in the morning looking like a garbage with my curly ass hair matted ON ONE SIDE like I haven't brushed it in two years. "yea...i just wake up like this."

Lmao I feel your pain, I go through the same thing and then have straight haired people say they wish they had it and I'm over here like "Yea you think that now, but I give you a week with this hair and you'll be beggin for that straight hair to come right back" this ish is not easy by any means!

I don’t have curly hair, but everyday I wake up and depending on what side I slept on my bangs will sweep to that side so now I change the side I sleep on every night so it isn’t too messed up every other day but it takes so long to get it centered every morning to get it right. Taking care of hair is WILD sometimes
@bestofiris4 жыл бұрын
I can relate to your struggle. My hair is thin and low density so it gets flat and deformed while I sleep so forget second, third day, etc curls for me. I have to style my hair every day. Also, do you ever have to plan ahead whether to accept going out depending on how long I need to get my hair looking decent? LOL

At least y’all’s hair looks gorgeous, I’m over hear waking up with really pretty waves but it’s straightens like pin straight immediately after brushing. Sucks, but it’s not like I can go without brushing, it knots easily. Curls look so beautiful when you take care of them (it’s exhausting I’d imagine)
@prettygirlbones99284 жыл бұрын
@@elf7184 It's extremely exhausting and you don't know knotting until you have curly hair... Just sleeping can cause knots from hell to form that you then have to battle in the morning plus it frizzes way easier than straight/wavy hair so say goodbye to just runnin a brush through your hair and walkin out the door because with curly hair that is not a thing.... I swear people with straight/wavy hair look at us with curly hair and think it's wonderful yet have no idea how real the struggle truly is for our hair to stay looking the way it does for you straight/wavy haired people to want it.... Be careful what you wish for, I love my hair, but when you have curly hair, it doesn't always love you back! JS!!

Ashley McBrayer dude I think I have an idea, don’t assume my hair didn’t give me hell. I would wear a hoodie and the underneath of my hair would literally MATTE up in gigantic nots that looked almost like dread locks. I had to brush my hair about 20 times a day, even if I didn’t have a hoodie on. It took hours to brush out. I went to get it cut, I brushed it before hand and the hairstylist got rude with me saying “you could have at least brushed it” I did brush it, throughly till every last note was out but there I was with a mini dreadlock again. So tell me again how I don’t know what knotting is??? Because I’ve dealt with this since childhood so I’m fairly certain I have an idea.

A little always seemed to seep onto the skin of my temples and forehead and would burn. The last time I tried very hard but I couldn’t help crying. And it took longer to get ready because they needed... guidance to have a nice look. Now I can’t keep a curl to save my life (my record is 48 minutes, with overnight setting of hot rollers, with product) and because my hair is fine and thin, I have zero volume. So at times I’m wistful. But overall... it’s such a fuss and takes forever to grow out. And this way, I don’t have that smell haunting me. 🤣
