Its funny how we think hair is beautiful while it's still on somebody's head but as soon as it's not it suddenly becomes the most vile thing to us hahah

𝕍𝕆𝕃𝔸𝕀ℝ𝔼 Nah it depends for me. If it‘s just a ball then sure, I hate it, because it looks like an ugly monster ;-; (Mainly because I knew a show where a hair ball monster was in one of the episodes), but if it‘s just cut and on the floor or something, I still love it. And like the first one, with her giant pile of Yorkshire Terrier, I found that weirdly fascinated and wanted to touch it ;-;

My mum plays with my hair all the time and tells me how beautiful it is and then gags as soon as it's disembodied 😂 I cut my hair from my hips to my shoulders and then I picked it up and waved it at her which I realise is mean and gross but it was hilarious 😉

LYDIA HERTZ my hair is literally the exact same as hers, here are some tips; don’t colour it at all, don’t use any heat at all, wash no more than once a week and use natural products - I use LUSH, and silk pillow cases and hair ties are excellent. Also, I use paper towel to dry my hair and don’t rub it, squeeze the water out gently and let air dry. I abused the hell out of my hair for years as a teenager like relentless bleach, colour and heat and then just completely stopped about 4 years ago and it has completely changed, it’s like pure silk. I wish you all the luck on your hair journey ♥️♥️

@@gabrielam8775 it's hard to appreciate it when society sees it as hair that's not being managed, and we face discrimination in jobs , schools,ect bc of the Views ppl have.Californa passed a hair discrimination prevention act called the Crown act. Which says alot that they had to do something to prevent the problem and alot of ppl had to see it happen to believe us. Also within our own culture since our older generations were raised where other races saw it as nappy abd bad they pass down self hate to younger generations and we grow up getting told it has to look a certain way for important things, like no natural hair for Easter, or important pictures. I grew up embarrassed asf abt my hair and it didnt help that strangers would assume my fro was me " having a. Bad hair day " and ppl telling me I need to " fix it" when that's my natural texture not uncombed hair..

I myself love everyone and everyone's hair. My 3 year old has Shirley temple hair and has been told by little girls they don't want to play with her because her hair is short and very curly . This caused her to try cut it off at kindy . Until I showed her other woman with beautiful curls like her , she's now thankfully happy with her hair. It starts so young these days . We should always build one another up ❤

The first girl raises a great point about talking about moldy locs. It can happen to anyone with locs (yes even if you have Afro textured hair), but it much more an issue if you have straight or wavy hair because of all the things done to loc up the hair (beeswax, extensions, etc) and how hard that makes it to dry the locs all the way through. I would say she should have gone for thinner locs and then used a hair dryer to get them dry. Also your locs should NOT be heavy. That's a really quick way to have traction alopecia issues. Source: 10 years of locs that are down to my hips

Locs are different from “dreadlocks” which have a negative history in some places. Some ppl are just learning to embrace the idea of natural hair vs permanently straightening it (perm), temporarily relaxing it (relaxer that allows hair to “revert”), hot combing or flat ironing it, etc to assimilate. Some family members don’t understand why you would make it harder on yourself to get ahead by wearing your natural hair (specifically if you have type 4 or bushy type 3). I’ve been natural for 20 yrs and my family didn’t support it at first either. Back then, society didn’t view my type 4 as beautiful unless it was altered; it was called Unprofessional and employers strongly suggested I “tame it” with relaxers or perm, or extensions like micro-mini braids to make it “more presentable”. But things are changing now 🙂.

@@nfischy1018 "Elf-locks" are what Shakespeare called them in the 'Queen Mab' rant of 'Romeo and Juliet', and those were also popular with Celt and Scandinavians, especially working class, due to the low maintenance. But it's part of the stigma for locks comes from. The catholic war on paganism and traditions of pagan practice came to the America's DESPITE most of the colonist being protestant in part because the protestants were already booted from Europe for extremism. The presence of both folk magic AND locks among the African slave shipments wasn't where the hate started, it was just a continuation of blind prejudice. The same hate was also the driving force behind witch trials, and sadly the modern world is still....not really done dumping hate on the outliers of local society.

chantalle fowler I could be wrong but I think that’s when you use the end part of a comb to scrape the strands of hair to see if a wax comes off. A lot of Walmart shampoos like Pantene will leave a waxy residue on your hair that’s not the best

I'd like to clarify that true dreadlocks are only possible with very curly to afro textured hair because the curls physically lock together and can be created with little manipulation, and can be washed without damage. It's much harder to create the look with straight hair, so for anyone with straight hair considering it, research the process and commitment first because it will be a LOT of work

Agree but to be fair straight would lock together into strands if you don’t wash it anymore at all for a while and you live outside (Unless you have greasy hair). One of my besties is Jamaican and years ago, he gave me one dreadlock. Yes, one! Lol He’s had locks for years and I’ve always adored them because they’re so long and beautiful. I wanted to see what it was like without committing my whole head to it. I had one lock on the right side of my head for about 2 years! You’d think it looked funny but it actually looked good! He put charms and strands of silk on occasion and I was in love. The day we went to take it out, he ended up just cutting it off. I still have it in a jewelry box! I have so much respect for locks, the culture and maintenance! Don’t ever let anyone tell you anything negative about your hair! You’re absolutely gorgeous. 💖

Dreads don't matte with the right hair texture such as coils because the oils from coil type hair doesn't develope so dreads remain shiny by applying the needed oils like Cantu, coconut, argon, etc., they only unravel leaving the twined like look

When I was a teenager my hair looked exactly like the 3rd girl's. It was long and straight and there was a LOT of it. When she said it was thin she didn't mean the amount of it, she meant the texture, so maybe "fine" is a better term. My hair was pretty but very slick and slippery and heavy and I couldn't do much with it other than wear it parted and straight.

I had locks my entire life until I was 16 and let me tell you, I was SO happy to get rid of them. I let them grow out without re-twisting and would braid the new growth into cornrows with the locks; eventually I got to a point where I was able to cut them all off, perm it with a short bob. Now, I'm all natural and have fun with protective styles!

I’ve had dreads like the last girl several times and the hair does indeed not damage, if not get healthier. I’d just braid/knot the hair around a synthetic or wool dread and there you go! If you want to try new things with your hair, please try this. It’s absolutely amazing. However, when taking them out and putting them in, bear in mind how thick you want your dreads to be. I had ones just as thick as the second girl and both braiding them in and removing took about 5 hours each session.
