Finally having curly hair is considered something beautiful and socially acceptable! When I was younger, people used to say that I had "bad hair", so I got used to go the salon to straight it, which was traumatizing and reflected someone rejected. What an achievement now our culture is changing and everyone is free to show they beautiful and perfect curls! Kisses from Brazil, Brad!! 🇧🇷

Your uneducated forced woke racism is ridiculous. Does your knowledge of history go back before the current stupid woke complaints? Shut up and stop making everything political and a LIE. You sound like Obama blaming white people for her straight hair yet in every damn phase of life including her WEDDING and WHITE HOUSE, she never wore natural hair. You don't even know WTF you're talking about. Ever hear of a guy called Michael Jackson? Janet Jackson, WHITNEY, Pam Grier, Chaka, Donna Summer, Teresa Graves, you didn't see Foxy Cleopatria in Austin Powers with her 70's curly fro? DIANA ROSS, fashion icon when her hair was either a 3 foot high fro or curly ass down to her KNEES half the time. Thelma from Good Times? Hell, even Florida and JJ. Marla Gibbs from The Jeffersons? There are photos of her with a big old curly afro when she was a working FLIGHT ATTENDENT during filming The Jeffersons. Go read about the iconic Soul Scissors salon where you could get your liberation fro, puffs curly, coiled or kinky how ever you wanted. Gurl you don't even know your own history and don't look all that black, either. And blame your mother for not knowing how to take care of your [probably mixed] hair. You think white girls with curly hair didn't have a problem? They didn't even have blow dryers for chrissakes. And absolutely that you don't even know about the ICONIC fucking JHERi CURL. Hell, it's even popular in NIGERIA. But you wouldn't know about that. And don't even know it's POPULAR AGAIN. WHY? Because not all African/curly hair can CURL. The victimhood IDIOCY is real. Never watched SOUL TRAIN, never a straight head in the joint unless Don Cornelius was interviewing James Brown. But of course you don't know who they are. Never saw Billy D., Lionel Richie, RICK JAMES? Never even watched Coming to America. P.S. Smart girls complained about no acceptance of African looks not curly, sweetheart. It's a very RACIST point of view that Black women somehow shouldn't have participated in HAIR FASHION during their ERA but of couse like everything else you make it a lie. The first RELAXER, early 1900s, was dropped by a black woman who accidentally discovered it and made a BOOMING BUSINESS out of it so woman could wear old school bouffants and the Gibson Girl top bun. They wanted wavy bobs, and finger waves WHY NOT? WEAVES invented by a BLACK WOMAN, in the 1940s to get that old Hollywood glamour. UPdoos. Pinups. WHY NOT? Why do you want all Black people to present like they just got off the boat from Africa? AND, BTW tell Jaz Z that hair a MESS and he needs to chop it OFF. Your welcome.

I used to be called “mop head” growing up because I had this messy puffy curly hair that I had no idea how to take care of. I became conditioned to believe straight hair was beautiful and fell into ironing my hair for years. My hair became very damaged and wouldn’t grow past a certain length and it wasn’t until I was 28 that I did the big chop and began embracing my natural curls. It’s been four years now and my hair has grown SO much and is so much healthier and defined, I never thought my hair would ever get to this point in my life. I get a lot of compliments and it really helps me to feel like I made the right choice in embracing my natural hair. All hair types are beautiful, but as a curly girl who grew up self conscience of her curls - I’m so glad to see curls being appreciated and embraced ! ❤

Watching Scarlettohair do her hair is like going back in time 40 years to my sister’s hair. It was actually that red (it’s dulled out some and P has grays now), and was that long. She could almost sit on it. The only difference is that before she hit her teens, P had curly hair. Once she began growing it out, it was so heavy, it pulled out all of the curl and wave. When I would do French braids on her, it was like braiding iron bars once I was past the scalp. Her best friend used to do hair modeling for the Aveda training center here in Minnesota when they were in high school. The first time Horst Rechelbacher met P, he almost lost his mind. He made her promise that if she ever decided to cut any length off her hair, that she would only let him do it. She made good on that promise when she turned 21. He cut off almost 12” and then he spiral permed it. It was the mid 80s after all. And it was still at the middle of her back! Now I got my thick, coarse hair with natural waves from our mom. My full-on curls blossomed with each of my pregnancies and then menopause. I have no idea what P’s biological parents had for hair, but since they did eventually marry and have more children, I can only imagine that her biological siblings out there somewhere have/had hair like hers. Scarlettohair could actually be my sister’s biological niece for all I know!

I’ve used too many products to count. I’ve even used hot rollers and my hair loses all curl within minutes. I gave up and now have very long straight boring hair. I also have cowlicks in front and at crown. The straight hair struggle is real.

And I would wonder why my hair was always so frizzy. 🤣🙄 Then I started seeing curly hair tip videos on KZbin and learned never to brush it dry and only comb it out while wet with conditioner. Game changer! My hair was so curly afterwards! I don’t own a brush anymore, only a comb. While styling my hair in the morning, I wet it, and finger comb products through it like leave-in conditioner, Viper Smoothing Oil, and Wave Tech.

i love watching Scarlettohair's videos. her hair is so beautiful, and i love her whole aesthetic. Also the first one, she did her hair up to look like Kuromi. She a bunny and is the rival of My Melody (from the show Onegai My Melody). I think she is probably one of the most well received rival/antagonist Sanrio characters. I didnt have to look hard to find her stuff when I was in Japan anyways!

After watching this, could you do a video for us straight haired gorls on how to get waves/curls with products? I only like my hair wavy/curly but hate spending an hour getting it right!
@tastymedleys
@tastymedleys 11 ай бұрын
The whole "if your hair is straight when wet it's not curly" thing is so stupid, there are just different types of curly hair. Mine are slightly looser curls so when it's wet it looks almost straight, but if I do literally nothing to it and it air-dries naturally, it still gets curly. Yes I use products most of the time to make my curls look better and last longer, but they already exist lol.
@JenniferPrefers
@JenniferPrefers 11 ай бұрын
If curly hair is straight when wet that may be heat damage or chemical straightener damage. Otherwise if the hair gets straight that may be bc the hair is actually wavy not curly
@tastymedleys
@tastymedleys 11 ай бұрын
@@JenniferPrefers No heat damage, I always let it air dry. Like I said, I just have looser curls, somewhere between types 3a and 3b with some variation on different spots. So water weighs them down, but as it starts drying it springs back into curls. Only the bottom layer of my hair is just wavy instead of curly, and I can see the difference clearly when it's drying/dry.
@JenniferPrefers

Tip for my fellow curly hair peeps with super dry hair add a little olive oil or (oil you prefer) to shampoos and conditioners the results are beautiful. For super deep moisturizing and conditioning I mix olive coconut and black castor oils with conditioner leave it on while wearing a shower cap for 30 min to 1 hour makes my hair like shiny silk

Unfortunately I am the 1% with no hair wave at all, and I can tell you… you CANNOT force it. That’s not a thing. Off it was a thing I’d be doing it, but it’s not. I’ve had professional stylists and colorists nearly in tears trying to curl my hair for formal events or to post on their socials. The curls just fall out no matter what products are used. The only way to make it curl is to spray it with hairspray until it’s rock hard.

My secret is that i use absolutely NO products other than shampoo and conditioner as a general rule and very rarely use heat styling. I just wash, condition, clean my body, wash the conditioner out, and then air dry hair. my curls are a little less tight than hers but are just as bounce-backy. I straightened my hair for the first time in 6mnts, min, this morning and sweating in the Texas heat caused the curls to re-form and under 5 minutes.

Hello Brad, I really enjoy your content. ❤However, I believe there is one aspect you may have misunderstood. Achieving defined curl patterns and definition isn't possible for everyone solely through techniques and products. It's important to have naturally curly/ wavy hair for the desired results to last. While it's possible to temporarily create a loose curly style, it won't be as long-lasting. Naturally curly or wavy hair tends to maintain its shape for days when utilizing techniques and products specifically designed to enhance and define our curls.❤

I *barely* have wavy hair, still it doesn't straighten well, though. I rode my bike to school and when it was foggy out, my hair fuzzed up like you wouldn't believe; I always thought I had "difficult" but straight hair. I just brushed it out wet after washing. Texture, what little I had? Gone. Only in my 30s I decided, f- it! I'm not doing this anymore. I'm 50 now and I just rock whatever I got. It's mine.

I'm SOOOO jealous of all these beautiful curls and all the styling options available to these lovely people. My hair is Morticia Addams straight, and I'm talking the straight of the straight hair. Oily and shiny, thick but fine and just hangs there (I can't even have a fringe as it just lays flat on my forehead). No matter how much I get it thinned or what product I use to give it lift or shape, nothing works. It just looks naturally like I've ironed it flat and it never changes. It took three full-head perms with the strongest solution, two weeks apart each, to get it to curl in the most basic way 😭, but at least I now have style options as long as I'm careful to take care of it to counter the damage.

💯 true "Most of you have wavy hair, you just don't know it" - Brad But then marketers, commercials etc for hair products always show the ugly "before" photo as someone with wavy hair, and the beautiful "after" with straight hair! Then hollywood makes movies like "ugly dork with wavy hair" girl that has a social level change to "beautiful straight hair or heat-styled curls" girl who is suddenly cool and popular! It's no wonder there are many who dont know they have wavy or curly hair - society has been telling us to hide it for so long!
