My mom used to sit me down & go thru my hair to pull them all out. 🙄😒 I finally told her to stop sometime between 10 & 12 because I had more grey hairs each time she sat me down. I was beyond over it. 😑 I turn 38 this year & when anyone points out my grey hairs, I shrug & tell them I've had them since I was 5. 🙃 They don't bother me 😁

It would have helped to brush the wet hair first with a proper hair comb then linings up the hair nice and straight. Then have the person you are trimming hold their head still while using a hair comb and hair scissors to trim the hair layer by layer. Use hair pins or Bobby pins to hold the hair you do not need to cut yet up until it is time to cut it. Make sure you cut evenly and while the hair is wet. Use conditioner if the hair is really tangled.

The last couple remind me of when I was a kid. During the Thanksgiving holiday meal, when I was 5 years old, I got up from the dinner table, went to the guest bathroom, found scissors, and cut my bangs/fringe. I have no clue what inspired me to do that (especially at that particular moment). But these ladies certainly remind me of that poor decision that I made all those years ago.

I was a Rusk stylist in the 90s. They had a whole series of “thinning scissors” and you actually did most haircuts with a combination of them. You have to be careful though, because some people have tragically fine and thin hair and it just doesn’t work for them.
@joansmall90194 ай бұрын
The butterfly was awesome, but the rest are disasters! The plucking of the gray hairs is a no-no. As you age, the texture of your hair changes along with the gray and thinning hair. I know from experience. 😊

I'm blonde. At the moment I am in the phase (50+) that the hair does not turn gray, but darker and darker. As a child I was platinum blonde, until 40 I had a light golden blonde, and slowly but surely it is becoming street dog blonde as we say in Germany. Somehow such a totally boring medium blonde that I can't stand myself at all. 🤷🏼♀️

what are those highlights in the part with the thinning scissors
@rachelmm054 ай бұрын
I started getting grey hair in my mid 20s and would often pluck out those strands of hair.. Then I noticed thinning in those areas from the excessive plucking. I stopped plucking and started experimenting with henna, bleach hair dye, permanent and semi- permanent dye.. These worked to cover grey but never lasted. But b/c I wasn't ready to fully accept my grey, I repeatedly added stuff to cover it for many yrs...September of last yr at 44 was the last time I put any kind dye in my hair.. Now a yr later most of the dye has grown out and the grey is shining through😊. I'm still not fully accepting of it cause I love color but fr the moment I don't feel like fighting my hair and just let it be free 😂
@ariadne0w13 ай бұрын
My mom dyes hers with semipermanent dye from cvs. She picks a color, then puts in a new one when the old one mostly washes out. She’s got “midnight jade” right now but my favorite is the transition from magenta to blue. Tinsel might also be fun.
@neen424 ай бұрын
I'll keep every hair on my head. Demi-permanent color covers most of the gray for a month or so. Cheap, quick and easy with professional color, especially just doing the roots.

When i was 13, I had just taken a shower. Our shower was also the bathtub. I wanted to shake my hair out, and when I did, i slammed my head on the side of the bathtub SO HARD that I knocked myself out cold. I came to look up at my dad , who thought i gave myself brain damage😅😂.. he kept asking me what day it was and what my name was, and blood was running down my face, into my eyes and nose... my mom had to come and double rescue me. One rescue for the head banging and the other rescue from my daddy who wouldn't stop with the questions. 🤣🤣 I lived.. but with a HUGE "Goose Egg" on my forehead. It stayed pretty big for a few days. Then, it became a very ugly bruise. Ahhh, another lovely childhood memory. Thank you, youtube❤
