Beyond the products, the right tools also make a big difference in caring for your natural hair. Using the right brushes for blow drying and styling is as important as having the right regimen for your specific texture and style.

Great info. I think there's an assumption that hair with more texture can be treated roughly, but this video proves it's quite the opposite. And I love your analogy of treating the hair like a cashmere sweater. ❤

Thanks for the clarification. I love going to hair schools because they are affordable and the students do an amazing job. One school I went to only use the round brush technique. Felt like my hair was being ripped from the scalp. I finally found a school that specializes in natural hair care and allows students to use the comb attachment. Great information!!

Wow! This makes perfect sense. I was getting Dominican Blow Outs for the longest (best shampooers) in the world and was blown away at how silky they make my Lamb’s Wool lay w/out a lot of grease like the ole skool press n curl. Over time I noticed the thickness in my hair started thinning. Who knew? Thanx Guy, You really know ur stuff.👍🏾😉💙

I NEVER get my hair blown out (from wet to dry) at my local Dominican hair salon. They turn the heat setting on hades & use sooo much tension! I get a roller set, have them blow out the roots only, & then wrap or pin curl.

I'm glad you answered my question! Can we now discuss combs? Unfortunately our community is so uneducated on what tools work for what styling techniques. Can we get into the comb! There are stylist who are using fine tooth combs to detangle type 4 hair in 2024; they are pulling out all of their clients hair.

I love this video because you have confirmed that I am on the right track when blow drying my thick coarse textured hair. I used the comb attachment, and my hair is thriving now. You are a hair guru!! Always so informative and everything makes sense on the methods you describe. Many thanks🥰🥰

This may not be the right option for you, but my daughters and I have very thick hair. I got tired of that comb popping off. So….i secured it with the silver duct tape. It NEVER popped off again!😮

@@hairrules Waiting for that one. Cause I always air dry and so did my beautician mother. Heat dries my hair out Fine when it was relaxed but as a natural its a no no My hair is healthy. I dry the scalp portion first by sectioning off. Than the ends which dry quicker. My hair feels like silk from scalp to ends.

Deeper Than Hair recommends the red Kiss hair dryer. It is ~$20 and they use it in their salon. I bought it and it came with two different comb attachments, a concentrator nozzle and a diffuser. It is great value for the money.

Question: I have fine 4c/4b hair but I have a lot of strands so it's thick. Is there ever a time I should be using a fine tooth comb to really get in there and detangle my hair? I use conditioner and my fingers, but I still come across tangles, webs, and single-strand- knots after I dry my hair. TIA💜

When to use a fine toothcomb to detangle....never. Lol! Maybe you need a straight trim! My hair only tangles excessively when it needs a trim.

Hi, unfortunately with a comb attachment I can get my ends to be straight when blow-drying because it does not give enough tensions on the ends of my 4c hair.
@marleyhill34

My stylist uses a one-inch diameter small round brush to blow out my hair. They have always done this to my hair at Aveda...however....They only do this when my hair is strong and healthy...This is not a weekly or monthly thing! 12-16 weeks only for my straight trim! My trichologists say to throw all the brushes, chemicals, styling products, extensions, the blowdryers, curling irons and flat irons away. lol! They are healthy hair purists.

What? The Dominican use those brushes on 4c hair?😵‍💫 What about the hair bonds doing the wash and goes and not drying the hair, isn't that weakening the hair bonds that need to be dried under drier or defuser.

It depends on your weather. I stopped using the dryer for my Wash n Go rather, I air dry coupled with my standing fan. Moreover, my weather is always hot and humid so, my hair dries within hours of making it.
