3:00 the point made here is totally true! When I cut bangs i thought they would look good on me because of my long forehead, but it drew so much attention to my jaw and chin! Without the bangs my big forehead and strong jaw balance each other and my face feels more balanced overall. Another good video, Jenn!

I have rather long chin (sort of like Reese Wetherspoon), and I noticed that my face looks more balanced and more delicate if I just put my hair up in a big messy bun, it creates more length and brings attention more up.

This video is mind-blowing! I've finally realized why dark coloured v-necks look so terrible on me. I'm the exact opposite of Liv Tyler, being that I have a wider/baby face and narrow shoulders. I could never figure out why I always felt that I looked awful in v-necks, but of course, it makes perfect sense that wearing a dark coloured v-neck would make my shoulders narrower, which would therefore highlight the wideness in my cheeks. I always knew that I've felt unattractive in v-necks, but I never understood why. Thank you so much!!!❤

that makes sense, my chin is long and narrow but my forehead is quite big and wide so i prefer going out with a fringe... but sometimes i felt like it wasn't good for my proportions and wondered if showing the forehead is actually better in a way. looking back at my photos, i've always really liked those with side-swept bangs a lot so i'm glad it should work good.

My chin area is slightly more prominent and I'd look good with more volume on the top of my head (ergo: short hair would suit me better). But I like the simplicity of maintaining long hair and I noticed wearing a hairband gives me the volume I need for a more balanced look. Or just wearing it in an up-do, but the hairband works even better and it fits my personality. Sometimes the solutions can be so easy when we recognize how our personal features are balanced. really helpful video for figuring stuff out, although a lot of the specific recommendations are things i’ve found don’t work well for me… i find curtain bangs actually draw more attention to my lower face-i guess for reference? my forehead is shorter and narrower than my jaw, and i have thick eyebrows and a really short nose. i’ve found that bangs on the middle of the forehead with side bangs (so with the part of the forehead above the eyebrows vidible) look best on me, though i’m still trying to figure out a good configuration for my side bangs OTL and as for short hair suiting it better, i find it’s reeeeeaaallly finicky with the length-a really short style actually accentuates my jaw in my experience, but anywhere from the longer range of “short” styles to bobs has worked. i’ve actually found different variations on ponytails to be the most flattering for my face shape, but i’d really like for it to look good worn down too… i’m growing it out a bit to make it easier to style, but i’m noticing the longer it gets the harder it is to make it look good with my face 😭

Hey great video! I wish you spoke about those with small foreheads with prominent lower thirds though!! Exposing the (small) forehead sometimes isn’t ideal. How would you navigate this?

I think it really depends on the level of the prominence and also other factors like length of the face, neck, etc. There's a few things you can do - you could either expose the forehead and also add a lot of hair volume around your hairline to lengthen the forehead more, or you could use curtain bangs / side-swept bangs like I explained in the video to cover the hairline itself but still expose parts of the forehead so the emphasis to your lower third is not as severe! Hope that helps :)

How do you think earrings are at play here? I have chubby cheeks and I swear chunky hoops add more width, while thin wire hoops (and basically any slender shaped earrings) "frame" the lower third area better

Other good examples would be Rumer Willis and Khloe Kardashian. I have always found Rumer's lower part to be quite striking and even though she doesnt look bad with long hair i think she looks her best with the wavy bob. Same goes with Khloe, she looked so good with the bob she had and even that pixie wig she wore, the long hair seems to drag her face and make it look elongated

I have a slightly shorter lower third and the tip for exposing your forehead completely works for me too. When my forehead is more covered, it actually brings attention to my middle third, making it appear like its the longest. Plus the part about long hair was exactly right! I always either wear dark tops or put my hair in front for exactly that reason; my face is small and slim so it prevents my shoulders from looking wide in comparison. I love your videos! Not only do they make more sense than other advice on this topic but there is also always something helpful even in videos where the title doesn't seem to directly apply to me.

A lighter hair color will definitely reduce the contrast level between your skin and hair and make your jawline appear less prominent. However, I have seen some cases where proportionally the lighter hair makes sense in reducing the contrast level, but the overall coloring / seasonal color analysis wise the higher contrast level works better. So you should also take into consideration your overall coloring and whether the reduced contrast level with a lighter hair color would work for your season as well. Hope that helps! I'll see what I can come up with for hair colors for different skin tones :)
