@kerbymarcelin6367 Жыл бұрын
I was raised in Haiti until the age of 14 and I am deeply invested in Haitian history and culture. In Haiti, people actually make it with not just the hot dogs but with herring (aransò) sometimes. And yes, the winner is right. We do sometimes have avocado, boiled eggs, and bread on the plate. What I do realize is that in the diaspora, we don't make 60 percent of the things that people make in Haiti and there are also variations within the dishes. All of that makes sense. People use what is available to them and people who grew up outside of Haiti do have different tastes based on what is acceptable in their society. I can see why people outside of Haiti often don't like the hot dogs in it. This is not how hot dogs are consumed where they grew up. You have to understand though. In Haiti, for a lot of people, hot dogs are just more accessible. Also, remember! Despite the country's size, its cuisine is incredibly diverse. Different regions do use different techniques and ingredients. Some examples --- In the North, we use a lot of cashews in sauces. In Artibonite and parts of the West, they tend to use coconut in cooking. I know people in Grand'Anse love making Tonm Tonm (fufu made with breadfruit). There are many more examples, but you get the gist.

@@lang-ed3bkwhat's interesting, is that if we have a negativity bias...we can perceive a lot more as rude/offensive etc, than those who don't have that lens. This is a subconscious thing. The studies of people who perceive neutral expressions as angry is interesting too, and there are different disorders that this is more prevalent in...as well as history of trauma can deeply influence this. Trying to see the threat, before it gets you...makes us see threat where it doesn't exist sometimes. We can then respond as if there was a threat and create a threat! It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. That's why introspection and metacognition are good steps to take...then we can look under the hood and do the work, and be less offended and threatened. It's empowering and promotes more peace.

you're a disgrace being a black girl and referring to having long black hair as an afro. It's literally just long hair, but you call it an afro because of a words created and propogated by whites and jews. Blacks that don't speak english don't refer to their uncut hair as an afro. Native blacks don't refer to their homeland as 'africa'. When their skin gets dry they don't say they're "ashy". You're propagating a system created by whites and jews that you don't even fully understand, you don't understand the reason why the word "Africa" and "Afro" was created by white people and you use the word to define the texture of black people's hair while you post comments. You have dark skin but the hair texture of a white person who curled their hair. Wtf. Africa is a word created by white people, you see major companies defining black music artists as "Afro Pop" "Afro Soul" "Afro Beats" when they're the ones who created and pioneered music, only to have to have their works associated with a word literally created by the united nations
@erinjohnson1124 Жыл бұрын
@@lang-ed3bk you are correct. to put your foot in your mouth is a phrase that basically means you said something incorrectly, usually adamantly wrong, and once proven wrong, the person is told to put their foot in their mouth as a way to silence them after their arrogance lol. The whole time all I can think is how strange it tasted and at the same time have to take another bite, it is really good if you don't think about what Italian/American spaghetti tastes like and try to compare, kind of like at Jollibees Filipino spaghetti, all you can think is why is it sweet and the hot dogs feel cheap, and then all of a sudden you are finished with it and order another plate to go. Filipinos like to use a type of ketchup to sweeten up the sauce and also add sliced Filipino RED hotdogs in it. And they sometimes add shredded cheese on it. Masarap! (Delicious!) Jolibee spaghetti and fried chicken is pretty lit. And their peach mango pies

Admittedly it took me a while to get used to it. I’m Filipino and not at all raised abroad but I found Filipino spaghetti weird when I was younger. My family served the more Italian style sauces often. But when I grew older I did appreciate it though I balance out the sweetness by adding lots of salty cheese. Haha
