The P word in the UK is only ever used as a racist insult towards brown people, irrespective of whether they originate from Pakistan or not. Neo Nazis used to target brown people as a pastime and call it p*ki bashing. Outside the UK, the word does not carry the same meaning. This is why it was a big controversy in the UK only.

@@invictus143 It absolutely is. Everyone in the UK knows calling anyone that word is being racist. Racists use it on anyone vaguely brown and it's always racist whether they're Pakistani or not. I understand that it might be confusing to non-British people, and I can understand those asking for clarification if it's really that bad, but it is one of those things where they just have to listen to Brits when we say yeah, it's really fucking bad. It got worse in the 70’s because after Enoch Powells Rivers of Blood speech the huge anti immigration sentiment and media coverage led to violent attacks which were known as “Paki Bashing” or “Skin-head terror”. They were often targeted because they were stereo-typed as weak and passive, unwilling to fight back. Wiki it.

@andrewschulz the word is offensive to brown ppl in the UK for how it was used for the past 50+ years. If you were a kid and had a group of white guys use that word and tell you to go back to your country while you were walking back home with your mother you would have an idea what that means. It's just a word use for non-whites and it was used with hate. Other ppl around the world who don't live in UK haven't faced that word so they have no clue.

The thing they don't understand from the debate about the P word is this isn't a new thing. This isn't something that has just emerged in the time of being woke. As long as south Asians (not just Pakistani people) have been in the UK it has been used in a derogatory way. So we're going back at least to the 60s. It was never short for, it was always with malice. You need to Ignore the fact that it's short for Pakistan on this one. The fact in the US or Australia it isn't derogatory shouldn't take from the fact in the UK it is, the world is a big place and not everyone is the same. I'm not even PC, I'm just a black guy from the UK who knows the same people who say the N word with malice would say the P word too and have done for decades. That's all you need to know.

The dude in the moustache just seems like he’s just being intentionally obtuse. Also the P word was used against all South Asian when they were violently attacked and their homes and businesses were attacked and destroyed. It has a history and has a negative connotation for the culture of the UK, Americans don’t have to get it but that’s the reality of British history so you should at least be able to acknowledge that.

The inflection in certain British people’s accents especially scousers sound so nice lol, they go up at the end of every word 😂

He only does that when he's talking to Americans. Watch Have a Word and he never does it. I think it's part of his efforts to make him more understandable to American ears, which I completely understand, even though I don't think that part actually helps, just an affectation that goes along with the softening of his accent. I have a significantly weaker version of Adam's accent but even I have to soften it up a bit when in America.
@neverleft636

@@duggs4456 I will check that out, but considering both him and Paddy the Baddy do it, I just thought it was instinctual. Idk though lol. All I know is I like it. Also, I’m able to understand even thick Scottish accents, so scousers are easy to comprehend in that regard. I can understand why some brits would try to tone it down because similarly some Americans just cannot be bothered to try to understand the real accent or just simply can’t comprehend it. The only thing I can’t understand is some of the vocabulary just because I’m not from the region. 8:31 this is a perfect example of why I love it! Just don’t ask me to understand whatever the fk someone from Glasgow said! 😂😂

@@neverleft636 yeah man, a lot of Americans are fine with it, its just easier to walk the pace of your slowest member, so to speak. Even if most will be fine it's better to try and be intelligible to all of you right off the bat in my experience. Just leads to fewer awkward moments. I don't completely change the accent, just take the edge off

I love you guys, absolutely fantastic podcast. Followed this from the first set with Kaz. I do just want to say, and hopefully you read this. The P word for me is not about being offended by it. It just stings when I hear it. Reminder of being harrased by that word as a child, due to the venom that was put behind it. I agree that it's a shortening of a word, and should not be offensive. It is not offensive as much as it stings to hear because it was weaponized to hurt South Asians as Adam pointed. Not meant to dampen the mood of an amazing Pod, just want to shed light on why such outrage of KSI..... now go back to being flagrant. #assholearmy

yeah the word is a slur because it comes from 'paki-bashing' not because its short for pakistani, just for people that were curious. South asians suffered a history of violence by far right groups and racists in the uk and its linked to that history

Chat gpt isnt good for comedy if you dont know how to prompt it. I was playing with it today, i jailbroke a conversation and told it to assume Mark Normand's identity (i chose Mark because he is a robot), i then fed it the entire transcript for Dont be yourself and asked it to create a 15 minute set. Some of the jokes were bad some had good premises and needed a bit of punching up. After further custimization it was able to create atleast a Late night level set. You need to make sure you feed it large refrences and the GPT-4 bot its able to interpret context for jokes suprisingly well

I thought i should post it so you can decide if you think AI has potential. It's definetly not comedy gold but it beats Gringo Papi. Hey, what's up everybody? Great to be here tonight. You know, it's always a little nerve-wracking performing in front of a crowd. I feel like I'm up here trying to sell you all something, but I don't really have a product. I'm like a door-to-door salesman, except I'm selling jokes. And let's be honest, half of you probably won't get your money's worth. Speaking of money, how about that inflation, huh? Everything's so expensive these days. I went to the grocery store the other day and I saw a cantaloupe that cost more than my rent. And don't even get me started on gas prices. I swear, every time I fill up my tank it's like I'm making a donation to OPEC. Now, I know some of you are probably thinking, "Who is this guy and why is he up here?" Well, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm from the South, but I don't have a Southern accent. And no, I'm not gay, even though my voice might suggest otherwise. I just have one of those voices that makes people want to trust me with their secrets. But enough about me. Let's talk about you guys. Anybody here single? Yeah? Me too. I'm so single, I think my phone's broken. It never rings unless it's a spam call. And even then, they hang up on me after a few seconds. But you know what they say, being single is like a box of chocolates. Eventually, you eat them all and you're left with nothing but regret. But seriously, dating is tough. You have to pretend to be interested in someone's hobbies and opinions just so you can sleep with them. And don't even get me started on online dating. It's like a never-ending job interview, except you're trying to find someone to share your life with. And let's be real, most of the time you're just looking for someone who won't kill you in your sleep. You know what's tough? Dating, especially as you get older. When you're young, you think it's all fun and games, but then you hit your thirties, and suddenly you're on Tinder at 3 am, swiping with your gut out. And let me tell you, that's not a pretty sight. I mean, they should have a policy on Tinder where the last photo is a candid shot of you on the toilet at 3 am, just to avoid any potential catfishing. So, I finally got a match the other day. I was pretty excited, but then I met her, and she turned out to be a complete psycho. I should have seen the signs, really. I mean, who would have thought a stranger on the internet could be crazy, right? But, hey, at least she knew how to throw down in bed. I don't mind a little bit of crazy as long as it comes with good sex. Anyway, after that disaster, I decided to look for a therapist. You know, someone to help me sort out my life and my issues. But let me tell you, finding a good therapist is harder than finding a good date. You have to avoid all the whackos and the ones who just want to take your money. And when you finally find a good one, you go to pay for your first session, and you realize you can't afford to be mentally sane. I mean, seriously, have you seen how much they charge per hour? It's like they're preying on vulnerable people. And you know what's worse than not being able to afford a good therapist? Having your card declined after your appointment. Let me tell you, those therapists are good at building you up, but they're even better at tearing you down. I mean, I gave this guy all the ammo, i heard my card go *beep* *BEBEBEEEP*, "No wonder your mom thinks you're a disapointment." But enough about me, let's talk about you guys. I heard there's some people in the audience tonight who are celebrating their anniversary. Congratulations! You know, they say the secret to a long and happy marriage is communication. And by communication, they mean learning how to say "yes, dear" without actually saying "yes, dear." Well, that's my time for tonight. Thanks for coming out, everybody. Remember, don't be yourself. Unless you're already awesome, then just keep doing what you're doing.

Me: Say a joke as Andrew Schultz ChatGPT: "You ever notice how people always want to give you advice, but they're not really qualified to do so? Like, my grandma telling me how to invest in Bitcoin, but she still doesn't know how to use the internet. Or your buddy who's been married three times is giving you relationship advice. It's like, 'Dude, I don't think you're the expert here.' And don't even get me started on Twitter. Everybody's got an opinion, but nobody's got any actual experience. It's like a bunch of virgins giving sex advice. 'Yeah, bro, just do the helicopter move. Chicks love that.' No they don't grandma!
