Welcome back to the channel, everyone! Today's adventure takes us on a day trip to the scenic town of Hakone, just a short ride away from Tokyo.
Hatsuhana Soba: Our day starts with lunch at Hatsuhana Soba, a riverside soba noodle restaurant. Though the food was quite pricey and didn't quite meet our taste expectations, the serene location made up for it.
Hakone Shrine: Next on the itinerary was a visit to the iconic Hakone Shrine, where we managed to snap some pictures near the Torii gate that stands in the water. A must-see for anyone visiting Hakone.
Pirate Ship to Togendai: We then walked over to a boat station where we boarded a pirate ship. The journey offered spectacular views and took us to Togendai Station, where the next part of our adventure awaited.
Hakone Ropeway: From Togendai, we hopped onto a ropeway car that took us through lush greenery and landscapes, culminating in our arrival at Owakudani.
Owakudani and Sulphur-Cooked Eggs: Known for its volcanic activity, Owakudani offered more than just scenic views, and the entire area smells like pungent sulphur. We tasted sulphur-cooked eggs, said to extend one's life by seven years. The area also featured various shops, all with volcano and egg-themed merchandise.
Return to Shinjuku: Our day concluded with a ride back to Shinjuku, where we enjoyed a well-earned dinner at Sushiro, a popular conveyor belt sushi chain.
