Hey everyone, join us today as we venture out of Tokyo for a fun-filled day trip to Yokohama! Packed with unique experiences and delicious food, this is a day you won't want to miss.
We started our day with a familiar comfort - breakfast at McDonald's. It's always interesting to see the local twists on this global fast-food chain.
Our first stop in Yokohama was the fascinating Cup Noodle Museum. Here, we got hands-on and created our own personalized cup noodles. Definitely a unique souvenir!
Next, we decided to try American fast food in Japan. Our choices? A wafu burger from KFC and a shrimp sandwich with wasabi soy sauce dressing from Subway. The wafu burger was quite tangy in flavour and I love the texture. The shrimp burger with wasabi soy sauce was definitely a different Japanese twist in Japan. I personally love the ebi burger a bit more, but it's not the same comparison. It's amazing how international fast food can be so different here.
Despite not being huge Gundam fans, we couldn't resist visiting the Gundam Factory, especially since it was a rainy day. The giant Gundam robot is truly a sight to behold. Visiting this site even though we're not big fans might help with the travel distance and seeing the Hikawa Maru from far. The historic NYK Hikawa Maru offers quick glimpse into Yokohama's maritime history.
We walked through Chinatown, though we didn't stop for long because we don't find that there's much to do there. We then head straight to the Yokohama Ramen Museum. Here, we indulged in Asakusa Rairaiken Ramen, a recipe dating back to 1910 - a taste of history!
No trip is complete without some shopping, and Don Quijote in Yokohama did not disappoint. It's a paradise for anyone looking for unique Japanese goods. The Don Quijote is much quieter than the stores in Tokyo. Although I feel like we should've went to Costco Japan to do the majority of the shopping.
We then wrapped up our culinary adventure with dinner at Coco Curry. Unfortunately, our camera died, so we couldn't capture this moment, but it was a similar, delicious experience to our last visit from the last video.
Finally, we returned to Ikebukuro and ended our day with sweet crepes around 11 pm, a perfect end to our Yokohama day trip.
