Hal Prince rehearses the original production of Tim Rice and Lloyd Webber's EVITA (Concept Album ft. Julie Covington who had a Number One single in Britain. Stage Production 1978, Prince Edward Theatre, London).
Look out for the top billed David Essex (Che), cool and reserved, the perfect Guevara. Elaine Paige (Eva) being put through her paces as Prince completely deconstructs "Don't Cry for Me Argentina), stripping away it's pop value and transforming it into a showcase suitable for the theatre. Look out for Joss Ackland (Peron) who made for a unique, ruthless and often terrifying Peron!

There is. These Evita segments are just a small part of an episode of The South Bank Show that actually mainly focuses on his other musical productions in New York. I just isolated then edited the Evita sections together.

It was from an old South Bank Show about Hal Prince I had. It was mainly about his other productions in New York so I removed the Evita segments and edited them so that it they were in more of a chronological order and hopefully made sense out of context of the actual program. It was a great chance to show more of the original London cast and Hal too, of course!
