I have been going to Roopyal for over 20 years, my favourite restaurant in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir. It has not changed a bit in all that time, even the waiting staff are the same! I did not think you guys would rate it that high, I like the ambience, they are not pretentious. Can't wait to go there again. Btw Roopyal is name of their ancestral village (I think)

@@dononeeye9912 Eeeerrrr, been there, done that, it, it does not have ambience of Roopyal (for me) My driver wanted to eat there, for some reason poor people think Nafees is posh, it's ok. I don't know the city that well, I can just about walk from my place to Roopyal, I like walk if weather is nice

Yes, it's their family name. The village is actually named after these lot. I went there when the orignal owner passed away.

I ate there for the first time 19 years ago with my dad and father in law. The fish has never changed and the food is always on point. I try and go every time I visit Pakistan. On point.

last went there about 10 years ago, fish had changed. the fish about 20 years ago was ridiculously good, must be up there with the best meal I've ever had. but still v good when I last went!

Hi Ali and Taz, that was a great review! The Massala fish and the fish fingers looked wonderful, what type of fish was it? I’m guessing that it wasn’t cod or haddock! I love fish, but I have a problem with bones, if I get just one in my mouth it makes me gag and then I’m done! You can tell that the chips are hand cut and home cooked. The mixed grill looked exceptionally good and also the curry, like you I’ve never seen a white curry with the exception of Kormas that my local restaurants and takeaways sell! It was good to see that you had Willy Thorn as your waiter! 😂

You were kinda lucky, or they made an extra effort after seeing the cameras, their food is not always consistent. A couple of times their chicken karahi was not up to standard & rotia looked like the atta was stale. Never had the fish though 🤣
