In A.I. Haley Joel Osment does a heart- breaking scene when he is abandoned by his mother. It is a master work for such a young boy, and Haley was the perfect choice for this role. John William's music is wonderful in this movie. RIP Stanley Kubrick.

So true. My father saw that movie in the theater when it came out, and it made him sad since his mother (aka my paternal grandmother) passed away that year. I had first learned of Haley in Thunder Alley as Harry (who was Gil's youngest grandkid). Now we've got this fine fellow as Sora in Kingdom Hearts.

Samantha Soland Sure, why not? It's one of his most popular roles. His voice is the reason a lot of people even bother looking him up. If it weren't for 'Kingdom Hearts,' I would've never known about Haley Joel Osment, to be honest.
@miraocelot6 жыл бұрын
Maybe so, but it's a manner of knowing when to speak of such things and catering to the audience who is watching you. If you go onto Oprah and start talking about playing Club Penguin do you think the audience of middle aged women are going to find you interesting or want to be there? Nope. That's all I'm saying. And I know Haley Joel from the 6th Sense which is where he ACTUALLY became famous. If it wasn't for his role then no one would have known of him and he wouldn't have gotten the KH job.

Not to mention I would imagine being able to make a movie with STEVEN SPIELBURG a hella more interesting and fun than sitting in a booth acting like a kid flailing a key.

Haley was a gifted child actor. Everyone knows and admires his role in The Sixth Sense but if you watch him in A.I. which he mentioned in this video and also Secondhand Lions which is my personal favorite of his, you would understand what an amazing young actor he was. He acted those roles not only with the innocence of a kid but also with intensity and depth of a veteran adult actor. He made every role believable which sounds mundane but it is very difficult given the unusual nature of his roles: a kid who can see ghost, a child android looking for his mom and a young neglected teenage who lived with two eccentric uncles. He actually reminds me of his co-star, Tom Hanks who can do it all.

Stan Winston’s effects are so good-even the cgi-because he started in the all-practical-effects era, and (with Jurassic Park) mixed practical with cgi before moving onto full cgi. This gives him an appreciation for how physical objects move through space, which makes him able to make cgi that real. It doesn’t matter if you can render individual raindrops and eyelashes, if your dinosaurs feel like they weigh three grams each. Heavy things are heavy, so they should move heavy, carry heavy, and hit heavy. Oliphaunts who move like Legolas are impressive from a techbro point of view, but it destroys suspension of disbelief. Stan Winston’s creatures feel so real you forget you’re watching a movie.
