I like this version. However, her live version that she sings at Chess Records with her dad accompanying her on guitar is simply spectacular. Her improvisational skills are unrivaled. Thank you Haley for bringing this beautiful music into our lives.

Really tired of all the endless sameness in the top 100. Not much bothered with buying new music. Then I heard Haley Reinhart's new album and a I sat up and took notice. So fresh and unique, but classic material just the same.

Haley sounds great on this. But I have never heard her sound less that great on anything she has graced her golden throat with. This album is great. I must warn you that I am a 64 year old curmudgeon. I am a Geezer, so here it goes.... I started playing drums in the 70's, have been playing ever since, and took it very seriously. Music back then was constituted by (excuse me kids) real musicians who had the wisdom of how to play guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, horns etc... Haley is thriving now because of how good she is (and quite rightly so). On 'Baby it's you', I hear a Hammond something (B3, C3, M100 or whatever) but I hear a Leslie spinning up and down. A real keyboard player! Makes me want to cry. Ask the kids what a Hammond is? (like they would know). No, don't ask the kids, don't waste your time. Now... Very tight, fine sounding drummer. Good drum tone, good sense of space and musicianship. Do I hear an experienced professional guitar player, possibly playing through an old Fender Deluxe with such a warm tone? There is so much REAL music (really good music). I say I am a geezer because I just don't care for these new pop stars who have some producer program some 'clackity clack' pinball machine sounding crummy drum machine noise with a song written by some 3 chord genius who gets one really thin synth tone throughout the entire 2 chord song. That makes me mad, like real music played my real musicians is an artifact of the past. But oh no, not with Haley. Everything she touches is golden!

Come down off your throne and leave your body alone Somebody must change You are the reason I've been waiting so long Somebody holds the key [Chorus] But I'm near the edge and I just ain't got the time, oh And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home [Verse 2] Come down on your own and leave your body alone Somebody must change You are the reason I've been waiting all these years Somebody holds the key [Chorus] But I'm near the edge and I just ain't got the time, oh And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home [Outro] Said I can't find my way home But I can't find my way home I can't find my way home Still I can't find my way home And, And I've done nothing wrong Still I can't, I can't find my way home And, and I've done nothing wrong Said I can't find my way home

Corrections: chorus: "'But I'm near the END" (not "edge"). "And, and I've done nothing wrong" should be, "And I ain't done nothin' wrong".

One of my favourite songs, it just gets in my head sometimes, ever since I was a kid, no idea where I picked it up, just started playing it one day on my guitar, thinking it was called "Somebody Holds the Key" and was probably by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young (I now better now). One day, years later - in high school, I heard the original again, and couldn't get over the voice - it sounded wrong compared to the version, which I had built up in my fantasy memory over time. Long story short, Haley's version ftw! (Although Winwood, Clapton and Derek Trucks did it crazy nicely too at the 2007 Crossroads). Just thought I'd share. Also, Ima make my bandmates cover it!

++Space Cowboy I had a listen to several of her tracks but she didn't really do it for me. She has a nice voice but for me she lacks drama and emotion that Haley brings to her songs with unexpected switches of register and tone. The songs themselves might also have had something to do with my reaction as well because I didn't like them much. Still, I suppose most singers fall a bit short when compared to Haley.
@gynack7 жыл бұрын
++The Black Dog I shouldn't compare anybody with Haley. She's incomparable! However, I'm always glad of suggestions. They're nearly always interesting to listen to even if it turns I don't like them, and sometimes I'm directed to something that I really like. So thanks for that suggestion. She has a good voice but she seems to be singing all ballads which I generally not keen on. Still, thanks anyway for making the suggestion. I'll always listen with an open mind.
